I should have put more aside. Especially the craft type ones- markers and stickers got everywhere. I will when we get more organized.

We opened about 85% of the new toys immediately, opened a few more the last day or two, and have one or two more still.

I overhauled all of the toys in the house so that helped organize everything and keep them focused on new stuff.

We opened all gifts. Everything that is age appropriate and safe for solo play is out. We keep craft supplies out of sight anyway so just added to that stash.

Not this time. The aunts and uncles were very keen to have her open everything and play with it right away.

Her birthday is coming up right away so maybe I'll do better...

I hid some stuff before hand, it was just us opening presents so no one to really notice if some things come out later. LO is also young enough that I can still disappear toys and bring them out later and it's like they are new all over again. I am going to miss this stage.

I have never put stuff away for later, maybe in hindsight, I should have to prevent gift fatigue and to have stuff for later in the year.

My son is older, though, it might have worked when he was under 3, but now, he knows what he gets and once you put it in front of him, there is no taking it away for later.

We held some stuff back. LO is 15 months and received a few things that are rated 2 y.o. +, so we set those aside. It's just easier not to inbox anything he can't safely play with on his own.

@Boogs: He got 3 or 4 and the rest are in his closet to open later! But his bday is in late Nov so allllll the things come at one time of year!

We still have gifts from her birthday in March but she does not get many gifts for holidays (our request) so it's not an issue for Christmas.

She's opened whatever she's wanted too. There's still a toy iPad and set of pots for her kitchen that she seems to have forgotten about and left unopened.
