6 lbs 14 oz and she wore them (not exclusively and it depended on the brand) for at least 6 months. One of the outfits fit her for a year!

ooo good thread. i am assuming we will have a biggish baby so i haven't purchased any newborn stuff! judging from this threat though maybe i should!

was born at 8 lbs 10 oz, went home just under 8 lbs, she was in newborn for maybe a week and 1/2, she was long too so we moved her up to 0-3 months.

DD was 6'14 and wore nb for a loooong time (at least 3 months). Some nb things still fit at 6 months (onesies and dresses mainly).

5 lbs 8 oz... He was in NB for maybe a month? Then 0-3 for forever it seemed and now he's flying through 3-6 and is wearing some 6-9 already at 5 months.

@jetsa: thanks! i was 8lb8oz and my husband was 8lb14oz so I assume our girl will be somewhere in that range... maybe i'll buy one newborn outfit for her to come home from the hospital in and otherwise stick to the 0-3!

Sadie was 7lbs 10oz, and was in newborn clothes for at least 3 months. She's tall, but has a tiny waist and is generally skinny all over.

@loki: I was 9lbs 5oz, my husband was 8,8. I was expecting a big girl! The dr's prediction was at least 8,5. We only bought one case of newborn diapers, and only a few newborn outfits for the first week or so. My daughter was 7,10, but wore newborn clothes and diapers for months!

@Mrs. Lion: Ive been wondering too! DD was born 6 lbs 4 oz (19 inches) and I suspect she is now close to 7 lbs. I bought a few more sleepers but I've been contemplating returning them! She is not swimming in them but def not busting out either and I have no idea how long this size is good for! Some 0-3 stuff that I have seem kinda long still

5 lbs 11 oz for DD #1 and 5 lbs 14 oz. for DD #2.
Both wore preemie for the first month, then newborn til about 3 months. DD#1 tended to move into a size as she reached the TOP of the age range (ie 3-6 months at 6 or 7 months). DD#2 is growing a bit faster and hits a size when she's somewhere in the middle of the age range. At almost 8 months she's about to move out of her 3-6 month things.

@loki: My husband and I were both BIG babies - I figured our baby would be the same. Nope... came out 6 lbs 13 ozs. I was so shocked that I had them re-weigh him.

He was 8lbs 8oz at birth and wore newborn outfits for a couple of weeks. He only wore newborn diapers for like 3 days though!

@loki: M and I both were almost 9 lbs also. I'm 5'4" so I certainly hope our baby does not weigh 9 lbs but my Mom did it. Anyways, I bought a few newborn things at $1 each at a kids consingment store to have on hand and some one size Carters gowns that look small. If our babe will be in NB for awhile I will just have M run to Target or get a few extra items on Baby Gap once they arrive. I hear for the first few weeks sleepers are gowns are way easier than regular clothes.

@youboots: ooo ya some gowns are definitely on my list and they probably can be a bit bigger anyways, i would assume! good thinking. but i definitely will pick up a couple little jammies in newborn just in case she's swimming in 0-3.
i have a suuuuper skinny friend who just had a 10 lb 12 ozer and i have NO IDEA how that baby fit in her! so you just never know! haha.

My LO was 6 lbs, 10 oz and wore newborn for about 2 months. But, you know..she was a newborn and pooped a lot so we changed clothes frequently and we used every newborn outfit we had, many times over.
