I know most news specials are made to instill fear and pick the most extremes of spectrums, but I couldn't help getting sucked in to an ad for tonight's FOX News special on Babysitters and "what really happens." Punching, beating, slapping, etc. We have yet to trust LO with an outside babysitter yet. I feel compelled to watch it tonight, but know I probably shouldn't.
Do you watch this kind of stuff?

@shopaholic: It's horrible that crap like this happens. That's why I decided to be a SAHM for 1 year or longer if we can stretch our budget. I just can't imagine why anyone would hurt a baby but stuff like this comes on the news all the time. I watched a YouTube clip about a 9 year old hitting 2 infants at daycare and was in total shock that stuff like this goes on! That's when the plans of being a SAHM got started if we could make it happen after watching that YouTube clip.

I know a few people who've been molested by babysitters, so I rarely leave my kids. :T
I try not to watch shows that'll freak me out. Good thing we don't have cable!

I do not watch things like this, unfortunately I have heard enough personal accounts to scare me well enough

Yikes. We had babysitters growing up and I babysat tons of random kids. I don't know that I could stomach watching something like that.

I definitely wouldn't ever watch anything like that. I cannot even get through reading articles like that. I was a nanny/babysitter for so long that I feel my instincts are good and when I have someone babysit I don't just take the time to know them but their families as well, their referrals and recommendations, etc. it pays to be picky, even though in general I'm pretty laid back
