I am only 11 weeks, so this is just for kicks but DH and I are pretty set on Madeleine Louise for a girl. However, I am not a fan of Maddy or Maddie...any thoughts on an alternative NN? I like Lena but I am not sure if it's too much of a stretch. I realize that a child will be called what they are called and if "she" likes Maddie, then more power to her.
Any suggestions?

Lena is not too far of a stretch. Madeline Louise is really lovely as is Lena.

My friend has a 3 year old girl Madeleine (actually pronounced Mad-e-lin) who is called Lainey - she is gorgeous!

My niece is Madeleine and is called the dreaded Maddie, and Mads. I personally think the nn is adorable.

You could just not use a NN. My sister just goes by her full name and never had a short form or NN. Same with my is bestie and Niece and they all have names that could be nick'd. (Sophia, Amanda and Kristen)

@erinpye: Agree! This is my LOs name (spelled differently though) and we call her Maddy and Mads (and Madalicious and all other kinds of things!). Maybe it will grow on you, we love it
Also our last name is one of the NN suggestions above so that wouldn't have worked for us.

I love the name you chose! I would probably call her Lenny Lou but that's just me. Lena or Laney are great nn's.
