I don't think she'll get any nicknames! My dds name is really nicknamable but no one calls her anything for short. I have a 3 letter name myself and no real nicknames growing up. My mom used to call me a few cutesy things but nothing school friends would use!

I don't think Willa needs a NN - maybe something cutesy might pop in your head though? Willa Nilla?

@loki: I was the same way when I was picking my 1st daughter's name. I wanted her to be named Willa after my great grandmother, but there wasn't any nicknames that go with it. I still chose it and we call her Willa Bean.

@loki: Yep! We had never heard of that combo before - it just kind of happened. And now my Willa has made a nickname for our 2nd daughter that is nothing like her name. (Bay-buh?). *sigh*

Why does it need a nickname? I have a 5 letter first name, and I don't have one. My name is 5 letters long and you can damn well say the whole thing.

I was gonna guess with Willa it would be more of a cutesy longer name! I was thinking Willa-bee for some reason, similar to @BabyBoecksMom ! And Cora is also beautiful, good names!

The first thing that popped into my head is Willa-bee, but honestly it's such an adorable name it doesn't need a "nickname" off of the actual name. I love this name, but it doesn't work with our last name

Willa sounds like a name of its own and doesn't have a nickname associated with it.

I don't think that name needs a nickname, but your kid might not be able to say it (as mine did with his full name), so he made up his own nickname. We also called him Mr. G, The G, etc.

Some nicknames just evolve out of other behaviours, so it could very well be Muffy at some point, lol.

@loki: My DH has issues with some of our name options because they don't have good nicknames or he doesn't like the nickname. I told him he can call her whatever he wants it doesn't have to be directly related to her name...

@loki: choosing a name with no possible nickname is the best thing you can do! haha! my friend chose mia and it's perfect bc no one can shorten it or change it!!!

I'd be hardpressed to come up with a nn for Willa, and personally wouldn't want one - I think the name is lovely as it is! But if her friends want to give her a nn, they'll come up with something. My name is a 4-letter 2-syllable name; my nn is a completely different 4-letter 2 syllable name.
