Oh the cries are killing me! But she's 20 months, so we figured it's time.
How was pacifier weaning for you? How long was it this bad?

Oh no! We went cold turkey around 24 months. We just told her one day we couldn't find any and she needed to be a big girl.

My cousin had luck leaving the pacifies for the pacifier fairy who took them to other kids. She made a big deal about putting them in a bag and leaving them on the front porch. Then the next morning, the pacifier fairy left them a small toy.

A friend of mine did the paci Build A Bear in the past month, where they put it inside the bear. It worked alright for them, but she's about 6 months older than ours (not sure C would get that concept yet). I know dad was tempted to do surgery on the bear the first night, but I know she didn't have it when I saw them a couple weeks ago.

@shopaholic: yup, sewed it up right inside the bear (in fact they made two, one for each paci)! I thought it was such an interesting idea, and a good way to make a lovey.

Good luck! Did you go cold turkey or did you snip it?

@SLR: cold turkey! She screamed for 5 min and I couldn't take it. So I laid down with her until she fell asleep. She slept through the night but woke up early. She fussed for about 15 min at her nap and woke once, but we were able to get her back down. Tonight, I stood by her crib until she was almost asleep. So, knock on wood, I think this will work!
