So disappointed in our local Hospital System.
They have removed the nurseries. They still offer care of course for babies with health circumstances and I have heard also to moms of multiples - but all other babies are required to room in with their moms.
They are using the "encouraging breast feeding and mother-baby bonding" but I call cost cutting BS.
I am really disappointed by this. I know everyone has their own opinions - but I think a new Mom should have a choice in the matter.
I sent K to the nursery each night (was there 2 nights for GBS+) just from about midnight to 6am so I could get some sleep and rest from what I had been through. They brought her to me anytime she woke to nurse and we had no issues establishing BFing. Not to mention, what about the women who go through exhausting labors...or those that dont have a support person who can stay the night with them.
I think it is awful to remove this option...
I just hate that they are hiding behind "being BF friendly" and not calling a spade a spade...its a cost save. When I had K I was a terrified first time mom...I took so much comfort in knowing she was in the nursery with professionals...I dont think I would have slept a wink with her in the room with me...(like I did the first few nights she was home)...
