Had an appointment with my ob/gyn for a cervix check. However my doctor was not available due to an emergency, which is fine. I have no problem seeing the nurse practitioner by any means, but by the time I was going to have a non-stress test done I was left scratching my head. The nurses I talked to asked why I was sent there for the test. I responded that the Nurse Practitioner told it was just a precaution and then further explained that I had my blood pressure taken twice, since the first time was slightly elevated, but returned to normal after sitting for a few minutes. (There wasn't even a ten point difference.) I just got strange looks from the nurses as if something wasn't adding up. I had the test done and everything seemed just fine. Babies heart rate was excellent during the entire test. I'm starting to get a bit worried. the worst thing I've had for the entirety of the pregnancy has just been swollen feet, which hasn't been that bad at all. I've been having pelvic pain the past couple days, but that's because my baby is sitting in my pelvis and ready to say hello. I was measured at .5cm and the NP could feel the head of the baby. I'm trying not to freak out, but the way the nurses reacted to my answers has gotten to me. On top of that I have been told that I need to have the test twice a week and I only have two weeks left. I would love to have some peace of mind on this. My hubby and I are going to call on Monday to find out exactly what's going on, since the reason was so vague.

I think if something was wrong, they would have to tell you. So try not to worry. I did twice weekly NSTs and also once a week had an ultrasound to check my amniotic fluid level. My stomach measured small and my amniotic fluid was low, so that's why I was sent to have these tests done. Inconvenient but I tried to enjoy the quiet time during the rather quick NSTs. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy! I'm sure all is fine.

It sounds like they’re just being extra cautious. I had to get weekly nsts, and bpps/ultrasounds for lo1 starting at about 32 weeks because of low fluid levels, and almost every time the u/s techs (who were different each time) were asking me why I was there and looking at me funny when my tests were all fine. I think they’re just used to only seeing women after 40 weeks unless there is a very serious issue, but they would tell you if so. It was good that I was going though because my fluid levels ultimately did drop again and I wasninduced at 37 weeks. Extra monitoring is a good thing even if you prob don’t need it!

It sounds like they are just being cautious. I had it done at 38w after I had a couple appointments with barely high bp. By my appt next day my blood pressure was so elevated I got induced. I had a friend who had it done at 37w because of barely high bp too

@nana87: It would have still been nice to be told why exactly instead of just for precaution. Still going to call though, just to be sure.
