Looking for ideas other than toys for holiday gifts. They have sleeping bags and monogrammed towels already. Oh and suitcases. Any other ideas I hadn’t thought of?

Chairs of any sort? Bean bags, hammocks, or outdoor chairs?
Fun robes/slippers?
Personalized plates/placemats? We have some that I think came from Zulily - plates have been awesome, placemats "leaked" and got soggy quickly, but were very cute while they lasted.
My kids are also getting cute mittens/hats/PJs featuring an animal they like.

My 3.5 year old is getting a robe. I would do slippers too but he won’t wear them.
I asked MIL to get him a hat and gloves.
Other than that craft items like crayola washable paints, playdough, etc.

Slippers is a good idea. I think I will look for some on LLBean

My mom also got LO an umbrella one year for his birthday that he enjoys using on rainy days. It’s hidden so he doesn’t play with it inside!

@jhd: Oh! That’s a good idea actually. My oldest has said that he wants his own umbrella before.

@travellingbee: my mom is really good at creative gifts that I wouldn’t think of. Other small things she has gotten LO are fun night lights, scissor set for him to learn with, watercolors, a suitcase. There’s probably more. It is hard to think of non toy items!!

How old are they? Backpacks, their own mugs, magazine subscriptions, books, "fun" clothes (like I got my superhero-obsessed son a Batman hoodie that has an attached cape), dress-up stuff (maybe that's toys?), a piggybank.

@travellingbee: I'm doing white sherpa covered bean bags for both kids this year. Plus I always get clothing for DD - this year she's asked for a gift card to her fav clothing store!
I'd like to come up with an 'experience' gift for them too... still thinking on that.

@erinbaderin: they are almost 2 and almost 5. I was thinking of some sports clothes and like an Astros WS shirt.

I don’t know how close you are to the zoo but my in laws gifted us zoo memberships and we go all the time!

I like to do monogrammed aprons (I get them from Etsy). I also always make sure my daughter has at least one Detroit Tigers jersey in her size. She loves them and that's one more day she gets dressed without argument

We are also doing slippers for my 4 year old. Mil got her some last year but she wouldn’t wear them- they were very tasteful and simple, something I would wear. This year I got her sparkly gold glittery ones which should go over better.
I am also surprising her with tickets for me and her to go to Disney on ice over New Years.

My husband and I were just talking about this. How about a magazine subscription? I was looking at Highlights, Ranger Rick Jr and National Geographic Jr.

My son asked for his own blanket for the couch. Kind of random! Haha.
A watch? We got DS one of those vtech ones.
Also thinking of doing some skip hop umbrellas.

@jhd: I'll second umbrellas! Makes kids feel so grown up
I also like drawing paper, paint, pencils - stuff that gets used up fast. Or a nightlight. Or rain boots, if they don't have a set yet.

I got T flash cards from bright eyed baby. PJs from HA. A puzzle of a photo I took from Shutterfly. I also got her a seek & swoon blanket. I usually get my nephews shoes and clothes.
For her birthday I’m asking for a mattress for my sisters bed from my Mom.
