So I have a guilty feeling right now. DH's cousin (who is a close friend, we met at her wedding) is pregnant and team green. She really wants a K name to match her son's. She's struggling with girl names and my favorite girl name could be a K, I didn't share it. I don't even know if we will have another girl but I kept it quiet, and now feel like I should have told her! haha so silly, anyone else do this?

That's not silly at all! Better to not share it than for them to use it, and then you wish it was still "yours" - which I have heard of before!

Eh I would do the same thing! It's not like you are keeping her from ever hearing the name, she can find it on her own if it's meant to be.

Not silly at all. We had JUSt had our daughter, and were no where ready to start trying for #2, when my cousin and his wife started talking about names for their second daughter, and were considering my moms name. I had to speak up to VEto, saying we were considering it someday (maybe not now, but still, it's my mom, we should have first choice)

Not silly! At least if she uses the name you know she didn't "steal" it. Even better, you're not preventing her from using it in case you don't have another after all.

Nope. I resented a friend for loudly deciding that her fave girl name was the one I had told her. She had 2 boys, it was not the name I chose for my daughter. I basically called dibs on Ts name when I found out my SIL was expecting a girl since it is technically a family name.

I would have done the same. Unless it is completely made up chances are she will come across it on its own if she looks at enough baby name websites.

I told my Aunt the girls name I liked. She told my sister. It was going to be my sisters girls name had he been a girl. Then my Aunt turned around and used the name for her cat. So frustrating
