@Tionn3: Ugh, so sorry Do you have to wait a year for your insurance to cover tests?

@snarkybiochemist: I sometimes get really sore boobs that peak around when @Tionn3: mentions. I didn't know this was peak progesterone. They hurt the worst when I go to run, probably a sign that I really need some new sports bras.

Another symptom I've noticed that seems to peak around then is feeling queasy while in a car. I'm 7dpo today and had to be in an uber for about 45 minutes for work; by the end I nearly puked. At other times of the month I don't have any motion sickness. If I react like this to progesterone during the luteal phase, I wonder if that means when/if I eventually get pregnant the nausea is going to be really, really bad. My face also looks like a war zone from ovulation until the start of AF - I had no idea how good the bcp was for my skin until I came off of it...

    @dc yoga bee: tomorrow!

@tionn3 @dcyogabee I'm testing the day after Election Day. Lots of anxiety rolling through my brain and body over here.

@snarkybiochemist Target has no underwire bras that fit almost like regular underwire ones. They're supportive enough for me and I'm a 38DD. Brand is Bali.

@bizwitch: oh I know they exist I just don't own any, thanks for the brand idea, if this keeps happening cycle after cycle I might need to invest in one or two
@periwinklebee: I will have to pay attention if they peak at a specific point in my cycle

Ugh so many of you combining POAS and election day stress! Terrible!

As for me it's looking like my app is right about O day - looking like tomorrowish. So O day on election day... can't imagine a worse mood killer...

@periwinklebee: it is more that my doctor won't do anything until it has been a year. Unless I come in and complain of extremely irregular cycles and pain.

@Tionn3: I feel like doctors don't consider all the stress that TTC can cause when they require you to wait a year, or a lot of other factors that would be relevant...sorry you are having to wait so long - really hoping that tests won't be necessary by spring anyways.

@periwinklebee: I feel like it is because I am 27, but I started when I was 26. My husband has also stated that he won't get a SA until it has been a year. It really sucks.

@Tionn3: I'm really sorry, this sounds so frustrating. While testing should of course be used judiciously, I don't think the by age recommendations on how long you should try first always make a lot of sense. Sorry your doctor is being such a stickler about it.

@Tionn3: can your doc do some day 3 and day 21 blood work to see if you're ovulating ok? My doc did it for me fore the testing threshold just to see if there were any obvious issues

@dc yoga bee: What dpo are you? Maybe your body is waiting on a bfp so you can drown your anxiety guilt free tonight?

We managed to BD last night, because I think O is today and I'm not expecting to feel very sensual.

@Tionn3: Sorry you are having trouble with your doctor. If your insurance doesn't require a referral to see a specialist most RE's will accept a patient making an appointment on their own without a doctors orders, if this is something you feel ready to do. I have to admit the only nice thing about having been officially diagnosed with PCOS and hypothyroidism is no doctor is giving me a hassle about seeing an RE to get pregnant well with in the year I'm supposed to try at 28.

@dc yoga bee: Boo. I hope at least your dental work is going well and not too painful

@Tionn3: Another thought would be to get your GP to refer you to a different obgyn/re, if there's more than one in your area and if your insurance requires a referral (mine does for everything, which is super annoying). Maybe this isn't feasible though My plan is to not wait a full year before trying to get a referral, and hopefully my GP will be helpful. This is partially influenced by the fact that I'm 33 and want more than one kid, so it can feel like time is running out, but even if I was in my mid-20s I think after 6-9 mos of trying it would be reassuring to have some more information from some of the basic tests.

@Petitduck: I'm breastfeeding, got my first period at 13 months PP about a month ago. It's definitely affecting my cycle. I ovulated on CD 36 and got my period 6 days later. So my luteal phase is WAY too short to sustain a pregnancy, but I've heard that can happen while the cycle regulates again. Before my first pregnancy, my cycles were 30 days clockwork.

I set up acupuncture appointments for this month and my doc referred me to a fertility specialist. They emailed me already with intake forms and the first appointment is next week! Way faster than I expected for the process. I am advanced maternal age (36) so they tend to refer a little faster I think. Hopefully acupuncture will get me pregnant and I won't have to do much other than some testing. 😀

@Petitduck: with my second, I was still breastfeeding DS1 several times a day. I got my first pp period at 9 months, and by 12 months, I was pregnant with DS2. I had some very weird pp cycles, but I was still able to nurse until 14ish months, until it hurt with his little teeth. With DS2, I didn't get a period until 11 months pp. we just recently stopped nursing at 15 months.

Three stark white wondfos in a row... AF is due tomorrow. Still holding out hope. I never have shown a positive on an OPK (despite the fact that my RE is pretty certain I'm ovulating) so perhaps the hormone levels in my pee are just unusually low overall?

I am bursting into tears at the drop of a hat, which I know is partially related to the election. I'm a journalist so I can't even talk about my opinions very publicly. Just my husband, family and close friends know how I feel. And I feel a lot of feelings!!! But of course I can't help but wonder if the tears could be related to hormones.

Anybody else feel super emotional before getting a BFP? I don't think it's my period... I never get very emotional before or during. So it's either election or (hopefully!) baby-related.

If not PG this month the doc wants us to try for two more cycles before starting Clomid. Getting PG this cycle or next would actually work out perfectly because it would put the due date very close to my work anniversary, which means I could combine two years' worth of vacation (approx 6 weeks) to supplement maternity leave, which I believe is a paltry 2 weeks at my job.

@bizwitch: with DS2, I burst into tears and told DH he was prioritizing video games over making a family because we had super bad timing. I went upstairs and got a BFP lol

@Banana330: I'm so glad you got the referral and got in quickly. I've heard so many stories about people having to wait several months.

    @bizwitch: fx that it's a symptom!

    @Mrs. J: That's hilarious

@jaybee28: that's pretty much exactly what happened to me last month-ovulated and then period 5 days later. I wonder if it has been like this the whole time my period has been back (about 5 months now).

@Mrs. J: I wish that was me! Ha. My cycle has been fairly regular since it came back, within about 3 days length of the last except for lay month's really wonky cycle. I'm coming up on 13 months pp so I'm getting a bit bummed that things may be being impacted for the long haul by breastfeeding. And I know I ovulated late last time I got pregnant, but my opks have been getting darker now and so I'll probably get a positive tomorrow which puts me at day 21 for a positive test and an expected period in 8 days from that. I'm going to try to cut down to two sessions a day and hope that will help things. I was reading on here and other places that some people have any amount of breastfeeding impact their cycle and prevent them from getting pregnant. Hoping that won't be me. Also don't know why I let myself get into the rabbit hole of ttc so quickly...

@Banana330: hopefully acupuncture does the job. I still want to get around to trying it but haven't made an appointment yet.

@bizwitch: the election must be crazy for everyone there (I'm in Canada), but fingers crossed your emotions are running high for a deifferent reason.

@Bizwitch: When I was pregnant with my first, before I got a BFP, I randomly started crying over something at work that would never have normally made me cry. I figured that day that I was probably pregnant.

@Banana330: @snarkybiochemist: @periwinklebee: It is more that I have Kaiser. Everything is connected. I went for a physical in August and had told my GP that I had been trying for 5 months with no success, she told me it can take a year, and didn't seem concerned. I didn't press the issue. All my records are linked so it's not even like I could lie and say I have been trying for a year because I'm sure my GP wrote about it in my progress note. As for day 3 and 21 blood draws, I would love to have those done. I may email my obgyn after I get back from Ireland in January to get the ball moving, see if she can do the initial blood tests and SA. She may be more amicable to it especially since in January we will be on our 10th cycle, and I'm sure the RE referral will take time...because Kaiser only has 3 in San Diego.

@Tionn3: I think that sounds like a good plan. You might even feel better about it with a plan in place. The end of the TWW is fraught with emotions. I'm at the start of my cycle and it's an entirely different headspace than I was this time last week.

  31. snarkybiochemist

    nectarine / 2180 posts

@Tionn3: Ah ok that does make things a bit more complicated. I would ask your regular ob/gyn for day 3/21 blood work and thyroid levels. Good luck getting the ball rolling if you can

  32. snarkybiochemist

    nectarine / 2180 posts

@Banana330: I was super shocked when I could have a same week appointment, of course I couldn't take it since they want my husband at the appointment and he was teaching during the time slot. I got an appointment 2 weeks out from my call though.

  33. periwinklebee

@Tionn3: This plan makes a lot of sense. Of course, hopefully it won't be needed, but seems like a good plan to have in place.

  34. Tionn3

@snarkybiochemist: I was actually able to get a thyroid panel at my GP visit, so at least I got those done! =P they came out looking pretty good, so it is definitely not my thyroid. Probably the most frustrating part of all of this is not being able to get my husband in for a SA before the 1 year mark. He is being...difficult, and accused me of trying to take the easy way out with him getting a SA. I was very upset with him about that. I still am upset with him.

    nectarine / 2180 posts

@Tionn3: Husbands do seem to have a hard time accepting that this could be something going on with them. Mine made a comment about the process being humiliating, which I get but I have already had a transvaginal ultrasound and will probably have a few more, and therefore was a bit unsympathetic.

  36. Tionn3

    kiwi / 680 posts

@snarkybiochemist: I would be unsympathetic too. I will say it is hard for husbands to relate to us when we are upset about TTC, it is not their bodies that will be growing a human for 9 months, and so they feel detached from the whole experience. At the very least, I'm happy I was able to get a promise from my husband that he would fully cooperate after 12 cycles of trying.

  37. Banana330

@Tionn3: I think they don't want it to be their fault so they do the head in the sand for as long as possible. Where as we just want answers, so we can work on a solution!

  38. snarkybiochemist

    nectarine / 2180 posts

@Tionn3: Thankfully other than that one comment he has been supportive and was willing to go to the doctor with me after only a few cycles of trying (off BC since march but only 3 ovulations). I'm glad your husband agreed to the 12 months even though I'm sure it is driving you batty to not be able to do more right now

  39. Tionn3

    kiwi / 680 posts

@Banana330: @snarkybiochemist: I'm totally a planner. I take action, and I look for answers. This has definitely been driving me insane. It is the not knowing that is killing me.

  40. snarkybiochemist

    nectarine / 2180 posts

@Tionn3: I'm a planner too, in fact every cycle I figure out roughly when I would be due, which is so not healthy but I like to have it figured out
