@periwinklebee: At 10DPO I had the same thoughts, I briefly considered that a positive would make things feel better but i was pretty certain it would be negative, the spotting today is confirming that. Although the super sore boobs and general uneasiness leave me questioning everything

@peachykeen @snarkybiochemist @tionn3 @shellio @Mrs. J: AF is due today and I honestly don't know if I want her to come or not. I have been feeling more and more like I am pregnant, but it really is that - a feeling, an intuition. I practice tarot and meditation in an attempt to keep my connection to the divine open and strong, so there is a part of me that wants to treat this as a real "symptom." The other night I had this strange feeling where it felt like another soul was entering my body. I know that sounds insane. But it was a feeling that just came over me all of a sudden, and I can't explain it any other way.
As I've mentioned before, I'm a reporter, and I'll be covering protests here in Pittsburgh for our local station and for NPR (if you're a listener you might hear me on your local station tomorrow). It's going to be another long, weird day - and waiting for AF is only making it weirder.
I'm exhausted, scared, angry and most of all just deeply wounded at the realization that this is who we are as Americans.

@bizwitch: Earlier this month I had a dream that I saw a pink line and then immediately started miscarrying. When I woke up, I did see a few faint pink lines... and my period came 1.5 days later...
So I do put some stock in intuition. Hope you get some good news

@snarkybiochemist: Sorry about the spotting, I hope the other symptoms are nevertheless a good sign.

@periwinklebee: Ugh this whole thing scares me. I see this as a backlash against the educated.
Sorry your PMS symptoms are disappearing. That is how my cycle ended up being this month. Hop you have better luck next month =] Maybe the holidays will give you some luck.

@bizwitch: I definitely believe in intuition. I'm crossing my fingers for you!
nectarine / 2180 posts
@periwinklebee: Yea I just don't know what to think, I don't know if I should be hopeful and try and convince myself that I am pregnant or be realistic and prepare for my RE appointment and take the advil I really want to take to help dull the cramps and sore boobs
nectarine / 2180 posts
@bizwitch: I hope that your intuition is truthful. We have to have some trust in our bodies
kiwi / 680 posts
@snarkybiochemist: What I've been doing is just expecting AF, and instead of prepping with the advil, I just take 600mg when I feel cramps and start bleeding, and that will usually provide relief within 30 minutes. That way I'm "safe".
nectarine / 2180 posts
@Tionn3: I'm trying to decide if the spotting and cramps are worth the Advil or if I should just suck it up and wait until tomorrow when I will likely know for sure
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@Tionn3: Yeah, I think it definitely is. I have so many thoughts about this, having grown up in a place that has one of the highest rates of Trump support in the country and now living in one of the places with the lowest. It feels very personal as a big part of my life has been an explicit rejection of what he stands for (at least about race, attitudes towards outsiders, attitudes towards facts) and embracing the opposite, but, anyways... I'll spare the ramblings.
I think next o date should be on Thanksgiving, so yeah, hoping for some holiday luck, though i am having a hard time feeling hopeful...

@snarkybiochemist: Ugh, yeah, tension from watching election results last night was giving me a headache, I really wanted to take an Advil but resisted just in case. I don't know if there are safer remedies for cramps?
nectarine / 2180 posts
@periwinklebee: No idea its my go to pain-reliever. In theory exercise helps but the idea of doing yoga or something sounds so unappealing when I have cramps that the exercise thing remains in theory only

@Banana330: I know, sadly it never seems to do too much for cramps for me

Incidentally, I remember seeing this a few months ago - http://www.nytimes.com/2016/09/25/opinion/sunday/the-trouble-with-tylenol-and-pregnancy.html
Does anyone know more about it, I know the underlying studies may not be of great quality - I assume they aren't randomized trials - but I haven't looked into it much.
kiwi / 680 posts
@snarkybiochemist: That is because Advil is really good at blocking the enzyme cyclooxygenase which makes prostaglandins. Tylenol also blocks cyclooxygenase but it doesn't do it as well for menstrual related pain.
nectarine / 2180 posts
@Tionn3: Yup I love science, hate that it makes Tylenol ineffective but I love knowing the science behind why
@periwinklebee: Some of the problems with the studies discussed include, no definition of frequent use or heavy dose, it was all self reported. Additionally I don't believe the asthma study took into account a mother or fathers family history of asthma or other environmental factors in the home.

So, I have to go to work in about two hours. I am wondering if anyone knows of the best/most sensitive test I could potentially take today with afternoon urine?
AF due today but no sign yet, not even the slightest cramping which is usually the first symptom for me.
Wandfos have been stark white 4 days in a row - not even evaps.

@bizwitch: not digital.. I think maybe the bottom looks like the older style which people prefer.

@bizwitch: yep, try the one banana330 said. Everybody seems to say the new stick gives weirder results, but I'd use that before the digital just so you know if it's worth it to use a digital.

Just got a BFN. But now that I look at the test it's not the early response kind. It's the "test on the day of missed period" kind. Doh.
nectarine / 2317 posts
@bizwitch: argh sorry about the BFN. Maybe the stress of the election is delaying things?

@bizwitch: sorry about the BFN. i hope you at least got to enjoy your fries! you aren't out until AF shows!!

It's almost 11:00pm and I just got home from covering an anti-Trump protest in Pittsburgh. Now I have to write and file my story for web and broadcast.
I am exhausted; physically, emotionally and intellectually.
Meanwhile AF still has not shown. Such weird timing. It's really messing with my head.
On the plus side, my husband made eggplant parmesan tonight while I was out working and as I sit here eating it, I have never loved him more. Also digging the gender role reversal. I am the breadwinner in this family, after all (also happen to cook most of the meals... how did that happen?)

@bizwitch: I think it's so cool you'll be on NPR tomorrow!!! Hopefully you get an answer soon.
AFM, I'm 4DPO, so just enough to be crazy but way too early to test!!!
pear / 1553 posts
@Mrs. J: They actually didn't want the feed after all b/c it's so late and there were no arrests here. But I am on NPR periodically. I know this is all anonymous but... if you hear a Liz from Pittsburgh... that's me.

@Mrs. J: the worst limbo!! I hate 1-4 DPO. I'm the nutjob who starts poas at 5-6 DPO just in case
nectarine / 2317 posts
@Mrs. J: 4 dpo sucks.. you just have to sit there and wait and google crazy things
pear / 1648 posts
@Mrs. J: @knittylady: My worst days are 7-8 dpo. That's the time I start looking online and thinking that other people got positives that early... but then I have to remind myself they almost certainly didn't have their days right OR it's such a squinter that you drive yourself even crazier...
