I had lots of wrist pain the last month of my first pregnancy and it lasted for about 7 months PP. It was diagnosed as tendinitis.
I am now 30 weeks pregnant and my left arm, hands and fingers have been numb for 2 days. It feels different from last time...could this be carpal? Did you have carpal during your pregnancy? I hope this doesn't last as long. And yeah, I feel numb but it also hurts...if that makes sense?!

I had that! My Dr. mentioned something about carpal but never gave me a real clear answer if that is what it was or not. She didn't seem concerned so I guess I didn't pry with questions.

@autumnlove: it was more severe when I would wake up, but came and went throughout the day (mostly present though) and then it stayed until about 4 weeks PP

Sounds like what I had- I'm sorry, it sucked! I would wake up to pain, wrist braces helped some at night.

I had that too and it was horrible! It started around 32 weeks and lasted for a solid 8 weeks PP. My OB said it was carpal tunnel and I could deal with the weird numbness/pain when I was pregnant but found it hard to care for baby once he was here. I ended up buying an over-the-counter wrist guard thing that you sleep in - i'd just whip it off for middle of the night feedings and diaper changes. It was worth the $30 because it really helped!
I also had the tendinitis...so double whammy! I ended up going to an orthopedic for that issue (which reared it's head about 4 weeks PP) and they said it's common in mothers of infants. They gave me a cortisone shot and all was well by the next day.

I also had something sorta similar, but it was worst when I woke up.... My hands were also really sore for a few hours into the day. It was so weird. My doc didn't really have an answer for me. The morning after delivering my son it was already gone!

I already have/had both carpal tunnel and tendinitis before pregnancy. Yam you can feel pain yet numb at the same time. It's awful. The later I get in pregnancy the worse it's been getting. Sleeping on my sides and on my arms I think make it worse.

@shopaholic: I was trying to explain it to DH and he couldn't understand numb + pain!
