I'd say the darker room. I don't think your LO will do much in their room other than sleep - at least for the first year, so darker is probably an advantage. Even though I have a really expensive chair in our nursery, I never sit in it to nurse during the daytime - I prefer the living room couch.

I would also say smaller and brighter since they don't use much space, I would use the bigger room for guests or something else. You will be redecorating when they get older anyway, so moving rooms wouldn't be a big deal later.

And my biggest reason for using a brighter room- better photos! Ours is those brightest room, so I don't need to use the flash, I get great photos with the natural light.

I agree smaller and brighter! We are in LOs nursery a lot. And it's actually important to them to have light during the day, even during naps, because it helps them learn the difference between day and night. And they don't need a ton of space so save the bigger room for another purpose.

We choose the small room in our house because we wanted to leave the bigger room as a guest space for now. She doesn't need much space at this point so I'm happy we went that route.
