OMG you guys, I just found out that starting Monday, I will not have access to the internet at work for probably TWO WEEKS (or longer *cry*)!!!! I'm going to go INSANE!!!!!

I am changing jobs starting Monday (Woo! Promotion!) but that also means no more Hellobee and internet derping all day long... just know your two weeks will end soon enough!

@pregnantbee: I do not! So from 6:30 a.m. when I leave the house until 5:30 p.m. when I get home, I will have no access to internet!!! I'm going to cry!
@MamaMoose: Well, I need HB to be sane... but lately I haven't actually NEEDED the internet to do my job. Sometimes I do, but it's not all the time, so definitely not a necessity.

@Smurfette: They're taking it away from us as an "incentive". We're supposed to migrate our PCs from Windows XP to Windows 7 before the end of the year. I've been on a waiting list for a NEW PC since September because my current one won't support Windows 7. But they're removing access to the internet for everyone still using XP.

ah! I couldn`t do it! Thankfully I am a teacher, and rely on the internet! A day without internet here causes pandaemonium! Thats how we do attendance and announcements and everything! What would we do without it!! jk!
I spend my lunch hour every day in my quiet dark classroom, leisurely on HB! It is my sanity break! -
@Adira: That is crappy! How can they remove it if they won't give you a computer to support the system they want you to use?

@Smurfette: I don't know! I'm guessing that it's because the MAJORITY of people still using XP just haven't bothered to migrate and there's only a small minority of us that are stuck using it until we get our new computers. But still... it's mean!

@Adira: can't you come up with some reason that you need the internet for work purposes?
I actually do, a couple of our systems are web based.

@Smurfette: I'm not sure how easy it is for them to make exceptions to their "No XP machines can access the internet" rule. And I'm sure they'll just find other stuff for me to work on that doesn't require the internet or something, even if I came up with a good excuse for needing it!
@MsLipGloss: haha, I have a media player with WiFi that I use at home to run IG and other fun apps. But Hubs and I don't want to shell out the $$ for a data plan, so a smart phone isn't in my future.

@mrs. wagon: I've HEARD that our company has wifi in the building, but you can't connect to it unless you have all the company stuff installed, so I don't think my read would be able to access it.

@Adira: OMG you are still using XP?!?! And you're a software developer right? What IDE do you use? Why aren't they updating everyone to current gen hardware and OSes? When I was working they forced us to upgrade because our hardware vendors wouldn't support older versions.

I never ceased to be amazed at how many jobs let people access message boards/social media while at work - if I was caught on HB on a work computer I would be in HUGE trouble!
