I voted William Hudson. I'm not a huge fan of surname as first names, and Hudson is extremely popular here.

@coopsmama: I'm totally cool with you not liking Liam as short for William but just as an FYI, they are not two separate names although people may use them for that. Liam is derived from William in the same way Bill is. http://nameberry.com/babyname/Liam
All of the famous Liam's are actually Williams. Liam Neeson, Liam Gallagher- both born William.

@bluestriped bee: nope William must be in the name as it is my father's name and grandfather's name and his father's name as well for 4 generations. I also prefer Liam to William but William is a tribute to my family.

@travellingbee: they're both great, I would lean towards William/Liam though! So classic.

I voted Hudson William because otherwise you aren't going to use Hudson daily. But, I love Liam as a name or nickname.

I almost named Logan William with the plans of calling him Liam! I vote that one!! Plus William is such a classic name and he can always go by that later in life if he chooses to.

I have a William/Liam so of course I love the name, but we went to a kid event this weekend and it seemed like every little boy was named Liam. I don't regret naming him that as and I knew it was popular, but if the popularity will bother you I'd pick Hudson (which is also adorable!).

@travellingbee: I get that it's an official nickname for William, but I think my view is also colored by the fact that I have been called a nickname version of my formal name my entire life and really just wish I had been named the nickname version because it's very odd to be called the formal name in certain setting - doctor's office, DMV, first day of school/class - and have it not feel like my real name since my parents were never intending to call me by it in the first place.
I also know several William/Liam's which also affected my vote.

@LuLu Mom: I also know about a million Hudsons and only one Liam.
I love the name Liam but didn't use it b/c I know how popular it is overall. But William Hudson would still be my choice
