I voted other because our LO's name is classic and unique, I think. It's definitely an "old" name but unique by today's standards.

We definitely felt more drawn towards classic names, at least with our girl names list. Our boy name isn't classic, exactly, but it's not really "modern" or "unique" either.

I like both...My favorite name of all time is Lauren, very classic and beautiful. But I stupidly suggested it when my sister was born and my parents named her that, so it's out for me. But my daughter will be named something less classic, more trendy I guess:)

We did a unique family name for her first name and then a traditional classic name (Jane) as her middle name

I like both but for my own children I tend to favor classic names. There is one name that I love but it's kind of uncommon (a take on a classic name) but my husband isn't excited about it so maybe it can be #2's middle name if it's a girl

I typically prefer classic in hopes my kids won't be upset with me one day for picking what they felt was a "weird" name.

both... but leaning more toward unique- but not quirky. I named my son Jacobi. If we'd had a girl, our top names were Adelaide (classic), Gemma (unique/modern) or Evangeline (classic and unique).

I voted other because my daughter is Libby-Jane. Libby is both classic and unique in my opinion and Jane is definitely classic. When hyphenated together though its definitely a unique name

My oldest is unique and her little sister is classic. I guess I like both!

@sandy: ooh you have me interested!
I am definitely a mix between both. I like names that were classics but that haven't been used in a really long time, so it makes them unique. I also really like nature names, I guess those are pretty unique. I am a name fanatic!

@Mrsdaredevil: I guess i'll tell you the name because it is highly unlikely we will use it ;)...Everly...like Beverly without the B. my husband isn't crazy about it but for some reason I just love that name

I like both. DS has a classic first name and a more modern middle name. DH has a pretty classic name as well. I'm the one with the unique name, but it's nothing too crazy. I'm not fond of crazy names/spellings at all.

I like classic names that are unique. AKA - names that you can easily pronounce and have heard before, but you don't know other people with the same name. I consider them unique if I haven't had a student with the same name (with over 400 different students each year, that's a pretty tough condition).

Classic. I don't want anything that wouldn't look good on a resume or as the name of a president

I honestly have no preference in type but my husband STRONGLY prefers classic names.

I'm a fan of unique but not modern or popular or edgy.

@sandy: that was our #2 name for our daughter. we went to the hospital prepared with two names, and that was one of them! I am in love with it....our next daughter will probably have that name! Love it!!

I think my LOs name is both. It's a derivative of a very classic/biblical name. It's not in the top couple hundred for popularity but it's a derivative that everyone has heard of and is much more common where my husband of from than here. My daughter's middle name though I think is one of the most common middle name (not sure, just a guess) - Marie - but I still like it.

Yup, one of each! Although the unique name is several hundred years old anyway.
