We thought it would be weird to call her by her name before her birth so, we called her BGH. Baby girl, our last name.

It was weird to me too. We called her by name sometimes, but not all the time.

We just call her 'the baby.' We both said we felt the same way about it feeling weird to call her by her name before she is born. I don't know why but it does. I guess maybe part of it is that even though we are decided on the name, until it's down on the birth certificate anything could happen and I don't want to have been calling her the wrong name? Idk - I just know it doesn't feel right for us.

when my sister was pregnant with her last child, we all called him "baby joshua", then after he was born, it stuck for a long time. i called him baby joshua until he was close to 1 year.

We are planning on finding out the gender, but I don't think we'll call it by name. We're going to have a few of our favourite names so when I give birth we can see what name it really looks like.

I felt weird about calling him by his name before he was born so we always told people we weren't sure of a name bc I didn't want other pp calling him by his name too. He's 8 weeks and I still rarely refer to him by name. I usually call him baby, munchkin or bubs

Sometimes I refer to him by his name, but mostly I still just call him "the baby." It feels weird to call him by his name for now, haha. Though my friends that know his name call him by his name, and I find that even more bizarre!

Before we found out, I had always thought it was really weird to call a baby by name before it was born (or even to give a baby a name at all before birth). But after we found out we had a girl, we picked out a name right away and always called her by her name. We're not telling anyone else her name until she's born though.

We still her nugget, or Nuggs for short, even though we now know the gender and her name. But we aren't telling the name till she is born, so it makes it a lot easier for me to not slip up when DH and I don't even use her name.

Yes, we've already started calling him by his name.

@MamaMoose: ha! I have a feeling DH will be calling her Nuggs still when she is 15.

@ladyfingers: That's ok. We don't know the gender yet, but I have a feeling we'll be calling him/her by their name in 2 weeks when we find out and pick the name!

We still call him mostly by his nicknames "Coconut" and "baby bee". Every once in awhile when talking about him will we refer to him by his name, but it's still coconut when talking to him.

LO didn't have a name until she was almost 36 hours old, so we just called her "the baby" or Blinky.

@runnerd: In my family, my cousins and I (all in our late 20s/early 30s) are still "Baby [whatever your name is]" occasionally. It's especially funny now that I have a baby of my own. When I showed up at Thanksgiving, my uncle said, "It's Baby Plaidpants...with her baby! That's weird."

No because we didn't have a name for her until a week before she was born
