Hellobee Boards

Yay! Thanks for the update!! We love Hellobee!
I've had a lot of fun on the boards this past week. Even stayed up past my bedtime a couple of times!

Yay, love hearing about how things are going on your end! Congrats on the traffic increase and beating your goals!

So, totally not trying to play devil's advocate or anything, at ALL (seriously, honestly just kind of curious), but is the jump in traffic at all related to the two giveaways that were posted last week? Regardless, awesome that traffic is up!

I originally felt like it would be really irritating to see a bunch of posts that I couldn't read, and that it would feel like an us v. them situation. I was bummed, honestly - I didn't feel like this was something I wanted to pay for because I wasn't interested in those features, but I hated the idea of feeling like an outsider in a community I really enjoy.

Having the 'classic view' button fixes all of those complaints. I really applaud your responsiveness to your userbase, and your willingness to not alienate people not interested in Gold currently. I would love to support you with my dollars, so I hope you keep adding new and interesting Gold features in the future. Love you guys!

@mrbee: Awesome, thanks! Yeah, a few of the boards I'm pretty involved in have a bunch of new members, which has been so cool to see!

@mrbee: thank you for your thorough response! It's good to know that you might say something if you felt a thread didn't necessarily need to be gold. I guess I felt like the threads I mentioned didn't need to be private solely based on their titles (not to mention that I'm curious and felt like I could benefit from the info shared in those threads).

I would like the option to be able to view gold only posts so I know I'm not missing out on any.

First, one of the main reasons I joined Gold was simply to support you and Mrs Bee's endeavor with the site. I already felt ok with sharing, so privacy wasn't necessarily a driver for me. As much as I've learned from this site, and the sense of community I feel toward it, paying $25 is a very small stipend. That's around $2 a month!

But I have to say that I think Gold has made a lot of other people more open with sharing, especially photos! And has also made some lurkers feel more comfortable posting in a protected environment. It makes the Gold threads feel really exciting and revealing!!!

I am going to be better about posting more Gold-Only threads...I think when there is an interesting thread title that a non Gold member notices but can't access, it stimulates more interest in the Gold membership.

I think it's going great and will just get better!

@Sammyfab: The nail clipper one was me, and I made it Gold mainly bc I ended up posting a photo of my daughter:). Her long nails scratched her forehead- Mom FAIL! I decided that from here on out I'm only going to post photos on Gold-only:)

Really enjoying the changes! As Mr.Bee said, I think people right now are just enjoying/experimenting with the changes. But ultimately, if people want the biggest response to their questions, they'll still go classic! I know I plan to use the classic board soon for some stuff I have going on (house decor stuff; I need all the help I can get!)

The site feels as great as ever to me. Kudos for all the hard work!

@Sammyfab: why dont you start your own non gold thread on the same subject if you see something you feel left out on and feel you can benefit from? Having a toddler myself, I don't think there's a magic nail clipper for squirmers.

@mrbee: gotcha. Maybe the classic filter may be a better option for me but I'm still weighing the cost-benefit so I like knowing what kinds of gold threads are popping up.

@PrincessBaby: I totally understand that you only want to post H's pics in gold threads. I also understand that you want to support HB and encourage others to support HB by going gold as well. I guess I just don't understand why some threads are gold when they would obviously benefit the greater community and the member would benefit from a broader range of responses too (unless gold recommendations are more valued?). I feel silly elaborating on this because we're taking about something trivial like nail clippers, but I feel like gold threads will eventually deviate from their original purpose with threads like these. FWIW, I use the safety1st clippers that come in a grooming kit and they work great! I'm just always on the lookout for new baby tools to make life a little easier :).

@Sammyfab: I hear you! Hmmmm, I definitely don't think Gold opinions are more valued...I think maybe it's just new and a neat option that's kind of fun to use, so maybe it's getting used even when it's not necessary? Like I didn't have to post a pic of H's forehead scratch on a product rec thread, but she was cute and I know it's "safe" to, so I did it just for fun and made it gold:). Btw the best info to come out of that thread was to clip while LO is sleeping or nursing! That had never occurred to me!
