@mrbee: I hope the new gol feature comes today. I'm home with a sick baby that is sleeping on my lap!

@Princessbaby: Not to belabor the "anti-gold" point, but I really disagree with the motivation to post more Gold threads just because you think it would make people curious enough to sign up for Gold. I think that's a huge abuse of the feature IMO and just divides the community, which is not the intent of Gold. I think if something isn't private or sensitive, it should be posted in classic, not flaunted as some commercial for Gold, like "if you want to know what this random thread is about, sign up for Gold." Maybe that's not what you meant - I hope you and others would continue to post non-sensitive topics in classic.

@ladyfingers: I think we all agree that gold threads should be used judiciously. We are not looking to use gold threads to entice people to go gold.

I didn't read her comment the way you did... in any case, I'd like to point out that we really haven't seen much of the behavior you're describing. If it does start to become an issue, rest assured that we would address it!

@ladyfingers: Of my threads started, the only ones that are Gold contain photos of my daughter. While I shared photos of her before openly, now that the privacy feature is available, I will only be posting photos on Gold threads. I've started multiple Non-Gold threads since becoming a Gold member, by far the majority of them. It seems that there are questions as to the validity of what should constitute a Gold post, and I don't think that is necessarily fair either...It's at the discretion of the OP. However, most Gold members are still posting the majority of threads in the regular boards (including me!) so hopefully division won't become an issue:)

ETA: Oops- Just saw @mrbee replied...Sorry to echo the same sentiment !

@mrbee: I *puffyheart* HB and was glad to support the Bees and this site! I also think that this (the Gold feature) is a great example of what makes HB HB . . . bit of a rocky start, but we came together as group because of what is important - supporting each other and supporting each other as parents.

I will admit that I was very nervous when this launched last week. I think it hasn't made as much of an impact as I thought it would, which I am very happy about.

I am super happy with the gold option. I wasn't incredibly private before the gold but my joining was to support the site & Mr & Mrs Bee.

I look forward to new features and I'm glad some of the users who were nervous before are coming around. Other than the initial shocked/worried posts I haven't noticed a difference at all and there doesn't feel like any division of us vs. them.

I think it's natural for people to fear change. Heck I'm in that camp! I was really freaked when Gold came out (yes I have that much time on my hands). After a few days it seemed like it just came down to paying the 25 or not, and all the issues I had been worrying about (divisiveness, cliques etc.,) were not at the forefront at all.

Thanks for Hellobee and thanks for sticking with US through our fears! It comes from loving the site I promise

To echo some PP comments, I think it's been really nice to see what seems like a lot of "new" HB active members on Gold posts! IDK if they were mostly lurking or silent before, but I think the Gold membership is worth its weight in "gold" just to see pics of everyone's adorable LOs and families, etc. I feel like you get to know each other more personably since these gold-get-to-know-you threads and so nice to put a face with a name!

I'll be completely honest. And i'm not a 'regular' by no means so my opinion may mean nothing. When I first logged on and saw that this new gold feature has started, i was angry. I searched and searched for a 'deactivate my account' button. I hate how everything has to turn into a money making ordeal. I will never pay for any website ever. Why? Because there is always other options out there. I use HB purely for entertainment value.

After having a few days, and still have my account. I am less angry but still quite annoyed by the "private" posts. I get the feeling that more and more features will become 'gold' only and those who don't pay, will have access to virtually nothing.

Now after my little rant, I do understand that this is a business and the bee's do need to make money. I have found a great relationship with some ladies on here so I will admit, it has benefited me. I hope the boards don't lose it's energy

@Lindsay05: Did you see that you can hide any gold threads from your main boards view?

<< I will never pay for any website ever. Why? Because there is always other options out there. >>

We built our Gold model so that not everyone has to pay, and so that there will be a place for all of our members! That said, if you'd rather explore other options, I understand that that is your right and wouldn't take it personally.

  19. Lindsay05

    pomegranate / 3759 posts

@mrbee: Yep! I saw that option and thanks for making that. I should note that seeing the gold posts now do not bother me. I just skim by them now. I will not go other places unless these boards become unmanageable or too quiet. I respect you and your wife and appreciate the service you do provide and am sorry for my bold opinion.

@Lindsay05: I totally respect your bold opinion and your willingness to voice it!!

I'm starting to get a little frustrated and I feel like I'm getting suckered into going gold because there are thread titles that I see that relate to parenting that I would really like to see! I know the option to go gold is just staring me in the face, but I don't need the added privacy (which is its main intention)...I don't think I should have to pay to get parenting advice on a parenting website.

<< I don't think I should have to pay to get parenting advice on a parenting website. >>

@Sammyfab: I respect that choice, and don't mind at all if you and others stay classic.

We've worked hard to make the Hellobee experience as good as we can for all of our members!

@Sammyfab: Make a thread about the same question and just make it non-gold! There's no harm in that! Maybe others will feel the same way!

  23. Sammyfab

    pomegranate / 3383 posts

@MrsBrewer: I know I could start my own thread but it's not as if I have a burning question that needs to be answered, you know? I'm just interested in the responses to the topic at hand so I can keep them in my parenting back-pocket, but now I'm being limited to what I can read and learn.

@Sammyfab: You may be the most curious person I've ever come across!

  25. Sammyfab

    pomegranate / 3383 posts

@mrbee: hahahaha...maybe!! I am pretty nosy. But I'm not curious about the 'share your...' posts, just the ones that may pertain to my LO. But then I see a gold bee next to thread and it makes me sad that I can't read it!

@Sammyfab: I hope you make your decision on whether to go gold or not soon!
