If you use OPKs in the afternoon (my OPKs recommend 2pm) do you do a hold like you would for a pregnancy test or just pee like normal around that time? I don't know if I should be trying to drink less beforehand and hold it.

I would pee at 1 and then not pee again till 430 when I left work. I would pee right before I left, put the stick in a ziploc bag and by the time I got to my car, it would have the results. I would try and not drink anything during that time too.

I would try to hold it for at least 2, preferably 3 hours beforehand. I wasn't willing to cut back on water (I wanted to give my CM a fighting chance), so I just held it for as long as I could.

I never bothered, and never had an issue getting an accurate result. It may depend on what brand you have though, I think if it matters, it would be mentioned in the instructions.

@travellingbee: I try to hold my pee for for 3 hours.
ETA: I don't restrict anything re: food or drink.

I don't purposefully hold anything...but if my urine is super clear, I usually retest a little later.

I didn't do anything special but I wouldn't pee for a while before I tested maybe 2 hours at least. When I think my line is dark though, I tend to pee on those sticks like 3-5 times that day to make sure it stays dark for my BDing.
