I have been thinking lately about how I don't like it when her grandparents/other family members kiss DD on the lips- diseases can get passed on (2 grandparents frequently get cold sores). I had been meaning to say something to everyone (how do I do that, individually? Mass email? kind of at a loss).
Well last night my mom and I took my DD to the Alzheimer's ward of a nursing home where my grandmother lives. My mom was holding DD in her lap when an older man who sits at my grandmother's table walked by with his daughter. He stopped to say hello to LO and my mom held her up to see him. THEN HE KISSED HER ON THE LIPS!!!!!!!!!!! My mom actually held her up and everyone at the table said "awwwww". I tried not to lose my shit, but I think everyone could see my face. I cried all the way home because I was so upset about it.
Am I totally out of line to be upset by that? I don't know that man, he could have some disease or even a freaking cold. It's just not appropriate. I am going to say something for sure at this point but didn't want to do so in the heat of the moment.
Also, when I met my mom to get DD yesterday only the chest clip on her car seat was buckled. My mom said "oh I thought your dad buckled her in". I'm livid about that too, my mom knows better but that's just not something you can let slide/not check. My dad can't put a diaper on correctly, how the hell will he know how to buckle the car seat.
Disclaimer: I'm pregnant so could be overreacting to these things.
! But that being said, I DO think it's inappropriate for strangers to kiss LOs on lips. Just...yuck.
