If you painted your kitchen cabinets - did you also paint the interiors or leave them their original wood color? Bonus points if you have photos, I feel like bloggers that paint their cabinets never show what the insides look like!

I can try to dig out a photo from IG but we did not paint the inside. Thats WAY too much work and it would just look really sloppy/messy because its hard to get in there.

Didn't paint the inside - too much work, and would probably just get scraped up from sliding the dishes in and out.

Thanks guys, that is what I was thinking but I thought it might look weird! I definitely would not undertake it if I had to paint the insides so that's a relief

I can't even fathom the logistics of trying to paint the interiors of cabinets. The process is pretty intensive. This is a picture of one from the store that has dark exterior and light interior.

@kiddosc: oh yea good point, most non kitchen cabinets aren't the same color inside!
@T.H.O.U.: thank you!! that looks awesome!

@HappyBaker: I have seen people paint that interior shelf ledge but we considered it part of the shelf and didn't paint it.
I really really loved how ours came out but they were a lot of work. We really took our time and did a lot of prep and a lot of really thin coats and extra sanding. If we hadn't put that much effort into them I really dont think they would have turned out as well.

I didn't paint the inside of the kitchen cabinets (the process was long enough as it was), but I did paint the inside of the cabinet in one of our bathrooms and I'm glad I did. It was a little gross.

If I were going to paint the cabinets, I would not do the shelves, but I might consider doing the backs!

We just painted ours in January and did not paint the interiors. I really can't understand why you would. The interior of the cabinet is never seen, unless you have glass doors. And even then if you were to purchase or have custom made cabinetry with glass doors the interior would not be painted.
Are you DIYing painting the cabinets? Just an FYI papering and taping off the cabinet interiors is a pain in the butt! But worth it in the end.
The attached photos are midway thru painting and before we put the doors back on. Still lots left to do in the kitchen but this shows some painting phases:)

I painted the inside of my laundry room cabinets and it was a pain. When i went to do the bathroom and kitchen cabinets, i left them wood. I felt like the original wood laminate would take a better beating than the paint too and didn't want to deal with ant chipping paint from using the shelves so often.

@milano14: Thanks so much, your kitchen looks great! And I hadn't thought to tape them off with paper inside, that is really smart. I'm not 100% sure I'm going to do it yet but I REALLY want to!
@PurplePumps: Good point!

I don't think it's necessary to paint the interiors. Painting cabinets is definitely a lot of work, but I'm so happy we painted ours. Well worth it for us.

@milano14: why did you feel the need to tape tape? We didn't tape that off and it went fine but we hand painted. Not sprayed.

@T.H.O.U.: it was necessary to tape the inside of the cabinets because we used a paint sprayer. Would not be if we used a brush
Should have mentioned earlier that we sprayed.
