My 2nd baby isn't here yet but I look forward to the first time that I can get both LOs to nap at the same time!!!
Do you have any parenting goals?

To teach her manners, kindness and generosity. I wasn't the best sharer as a kid and I want to ensure she is.

To have a healthy eater who works hard and doesn't procrastinate on their homework. Dream child!

To have a sushi buddy!!! I know, silly, but my DH doesn't eat sushi, steak, or most cooked seafood. I just want someone on my side for fancy food
My first *real* goal is getting baby out of the house during maternity leave. I see all these women with babies and I'm just in awe of them... I have no idea what taking a baby around involves and it terrifies me!

@Bookworm: I love your sushi goal!
I hope to raise a child with lots of exposure to different situations and appreciation of the world. I grew up with a "small world" and had to discover everything on my own later in life.

I really want my kids to be tolerant, generous and smart. I want them to know without a doubt they are always loved.

@Bookworm: it involves a willingness to nurse outside of your living room and some sort of baby holding device. Oh and flexibility.

My first goal is to keep the baby in until 39 weeks or more! Then like @Bookworm: I want to get out of the house most days of my mat leave (well, eternity leave, as Tororojo says). I'm a homebody so I'll have to force myself to keep getting out.
I also want our kids to like athletic things more than I do-- DH loves running around, pick up basketball, skiing, etc, and I do not, was never really raised with it. So I want to make sure our kids like just doing stuff, whether or not they are good at any particular sport.

@runnerd: Thank you! Your goal reminds me, I want my kids to travel, even if it's just to a different city in TX. DH didn't get on his first plane until we got married, was not exposed to other cultures or food, and I really want my kid to be a bit more worldly, and comfortable in different situations!

@Bookworm: yeah - I never saw the ocean until college and my husband and I's first flight was for our honeymoon. Things like that I want to be different for my children

Long term goals: Make them appreciate what they have and not to expect everything and anything. Surprise! You are buying your first car, cellphone, etc.
Short term: Socialize her as much as possible. It's so easy to stay at home.

Well behaved kids and polite. I don't want to have to remind them every time to say thank you, etc. We also want to make sure we travel with our kids. Our goal is someplace new every 2-3 years for vacation.

Well-behaved, good manners, I want them to not expect to get everything they want - they have to work for it. I also want them to appreciate what they have and know that there are people who have even less then they do.

There are tons but one of them just because we're at the eating stage is to raise a child that never asks for a happy meal!

Immediate goal: teach her how to hug back. She likes hugs; but doesn't hug back yet and I want bebe huggies man!
Long term goals: raise an independent thinker with a strong sense of ethics and morality, a good eater, a travel buddy, and a child who is generous, thoughtful and kind.
