We have a Ford Edge and love it but I think we need a little more space for 2 kids. Our lease is up in a few months and trying to decide what to get. And that option won't involve a mini van. My husband has a VW Jetta.

We have a Honda CRV. I can't wait to get a mini van!

We are planning ahead for this as well. We have a large Lexus sedan that we will keep, but we are looking to add a second car once we move and I want that one to be good for 2+ kids. We have been looking at the Outback, Murano, small Lexus SVU, Highlander, and the 4Runner.
We have friends who swear by their CRV.
I am also firmly in the no minivan camp.

We have a BMW X3. Love it! We looked at the X5 but it was a little large.

Only one kid, but planning on two. We have a GMC Acadia, I love it, but we've talked about getting something different. I'm eying Chevy Tahoe or a Buick Enclave.

We have two infants and a large-ish dog. Everyone plus a ton of baby gear fits perfectly in our Audi Q7. It's huge but I'm not known for packing lightly!
@littlek: I used to have an X3. I loved that car so much!

We just got our CRV last Oct so it will def be lasting through having 2 kids! I will prob be replacing my car in the next 3-5 years but it will be a small car that I commute with.

@septca: I don't think the crib is big enough! Smaller than the edge.
I should say we are looking for a 3rd row seat car. Mostly because we travel and visit family a lot and need the cargo space. The edge is big enough in the actual seating area. But for our recent vaca we had to out half the second row seat down and that just won't work for 2 kids!

Wow, you bees have some pretty sweet cars!
Following, because we are planning to upsize in a year or so as well!

@LuLu Mom: how does the Acadia drive? That's one on my list.

@winniebee: Have you looked at the Mazda 5? Or the Volvo station wagon?
watermelon / 14206 posts
@septca: I second the Volvo SW. I had one before my T&C and loved it so much.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
@winniebee: It drives well and we love the look inside/out. However, just a disclaimer we've had a lot of electrical issues with it. Sensors/systems seem to break on it way more than any other vehicle we've ever had. After doing some research, this appears to be pretty standard with Acadias, which is why we are thinking of trading in for something different. We spend a lot of time in the shop and our warranty was up in May so everything is out of pocket now.

@Dandelion: Ha ha. That's what I drove all through high school and college. *Loved* that car. So much room for friends, bonfire wood, beach chairs...
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@septca: not yet! We will have to do some looking in sept. Off hand was thinking Acadia, explorer, maybe highlander (but that really drives like a truck).

@winniebee: We have a Kia Sorento and love it! It has a third row and seats 7. It's also really affordable compared to other cross-overs (not sure how much you're looking to spend....)
I'm anti-mini van, too.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@LuLu Mom: hmm interesting. What year is it? I wonder if those issues have resolved with newer models?
GOLD / pomegranate / 3688 posts
@winniebee: Those are good options. We are firmly in the Japanese-cars-only camp, so I haven't looked at those others. My husband is *obsessed* with getting a 4Runner, which is just way too big and fuel INefficient to make any kind of sense....
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@lawbee11: oh nice. Forgot about that one. We don't want to spend a ton. We plan to lease but are planning to buy a house soon, so...

@septca: my mom had a 4runner and it really drives like a truck! I was really surprised how much I live the ford egde!

@autumnlove: I can't wait for a mini van too!! Two years, or when my husbands car finally craps out. Whichever comes first!
We have a Kia Sorento.

We're looking at the Infiniti QX60, Acura MDX, CadillacSRX

@lawbee11: @GrapeCrush: we also have a Kia Sorento, and I absolutely love it. However, with LO#3 on the way, we're looking to make the switch to a minivan soon. I have 3rd row seating, but it's really not convenient to get to the third row...you need to fold down one of the middle seats, but with two car seats that will be nearly impossible.
grapefruit / 4823 posts
@bunnylovesbear: I agree! I like having it, but getting to it is impossible with 2 car seats. I climb through the back... And once the third row is up, not much storage space.
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@mrsjyw: I know tons of people with Acura MDX. They all seem to like it.

We have a Ford Explorer. The third row seating comes in handy!

We have an outback but will need something larger with two LOs and our black lab. We are looking at the Pilot, Tahoe, and Mercedes GL450. I like the Audi Q7 and the Highlander but DH doesn't.

2 kids and a dog, I want the Honda Odyssey SO bad.
Chevrolet Equinox for now, wish the car seats didn't eat the three backseat spaces. Dog rides in the back back. We just got a hitch tray for additional storage.

We have an Odyssey. I used to be firmly in the no-minvan camp too, but I changed my mind!

@septca: @Dandelion: 3rd on the Volvo SW! I had one in HS and thing was a workhorse, tank, and storage facility in one. It's probably what I'll be getting after we're done with the Escape.
coconut / 8498 posts
We ended p with the Odyssey, and it's awesome. However, when we were shopping around, the Highlander and Pilot were our top contenders. Unfortunately, there just isn't enough rear storage with the third row up.

Honda Accord here!
Although technically I only have one with another on the way, but I don't plan to replace my Accord for at least 5 more years.
