So in the Philly transit system, we have the Quiet Ride car, which is always the first car of the train. I used to sit in the Quiet Ride, but then Hubs got a new job so now we commute together and sit in a regular car so we can talk. Yesterday, we were sitting in the regular car, and a father came through from the Quiet Ride with his son (probably about 18 months old). The little boy was crying, and Dad couldn't get him to calm down. Turns out, Dad brought him over from the Quiet Ride because he was being noisy, but Mom was still over in the Quiet Ride. A woman sitting near them started saying to the dad, "You'll never get him to calm down unless Mom comes over here. He'll never stop crying. He won't be quiet." The Dad just politely smiled and apologized for his son, and continued to try to get the little boy to calm down. The woman stood up and said she was going to find the mom in the Quiet Ride and bring her back here, and asked the dad where she was sitting! Dad finally told her that they were fine and he didn't want her to go get his wife, and the woman sat down, but kept making comments. Eventually, Mom came back, and it turned out she was waiting for a stop because she was wearing a sleeping infant in a carrier!
I was so upset for the father that this woman was being so intrusive! I could not believe how rude she was being! Dad didn't ask for help and politely declined it when she first made a comment!
Do you think this woman was totally out of line? Or am I being too sensitive?
