Can you order a swatch and then abuse it to see how it reacts? I'm thinking spilling some liquid over it like water, then sugary water, then wine...

You could also try scotch guarding it to see how it reacts to that. We just bought dining chairs from West Elm in a weave fabric and scotch guarded them.

I have nothing to say on the fabric, but, my son recently drank about 11 ounces of milk and then promptly vomited on my less than 6 month old sofa, of linen fabric. I panicked and put the cushion cover in the washing machine. It promptly shrunk about 3 inches in all directions, rendering it useless. What saved the day was the fact that the cushion was removable and the furniture store was able to order a replacement cushion cover.

My sofa is now covered with a slipcover. I would be concerned with that sofa because I can't tell if the cushions are removable. it says to spot treat, which leads me to believe you could dry clean the covers, if the sofa has covers.
