If you share an office and want to spray on perfume at work, would you go do this in the bathroom or would you just do it in the office? We have a new lady who keeps spraying perfume on herself. The scent is not horrible but its a bit overwhelming and is kinda making me gag. I really think she should go do this in the bathroom because then the smell wouldnt linger in the air as much

I don't think you should do it in either place because even if you do it in the bathroom, you leave a trail of perfume all over the office once you leave the bathroom. Do it at home. Hehe. I feel quite strongly about this since I have smelled so many yucky perfumes over the years.

OMG spraying perfume at work in general is horrible.
There is this one co-worker who puts on a TON of perfume. She does it in the bathroom and if I walk in after her it's like a perfume attack!!! I am literally ENGULFED in her perfume and walk out smelling like it. With a massive headache since 99% of perfumes give me a headache.
I really don't get why you need to reapply perfume while at work anyway????

I don't share my office, but the only perfume I will put on at work is dabbed or rolled on (I think I have done this 2-3 times during the last 5 years). I wouldn't *spray* anything at work (except maybe Febreze), even with my door closed. Besides being overwhelming smell-wise, folks could get a scent taste in their mouth, too.
If she has to spray, the least she could do is to go to the bathroom.

Omg! I would ask her nicely if she can go to the restroom to spray herself. Weird that she would spray it on multiple times a day.. maybe she's trying to mask an odor..? :T

I think it is rude to do it at a desk/common area. Bathroom would be a little better, but her car or home would be the best! And plus I think perfume once a day is plenty!

I don't wear perfume to work, period. I work in the social work field, and I would feel weird if any of my patients commented on how I smell, so I try to avoid anything really strong smelling at all. I just wear scented lotion. I do think it's pretty awful to apply it at work at her desk though! Especially if it's near other people

My poor coworker sits next to a girl who sprays parfume all day in her cube. It smells like fruit roll ups, no joke. But for him to have to smell it all day is really annoying and disrespectful!

Perfume gives me migraines. So I'd be pretty upset about that.

I agree that it shouldn't be done at work. Home only. Plus, it's not professional to have a heavy scent on you since many people have allergies and what not!

I work with a woman who wears so much perfume that I can tell when she's been in a room recently. I don't wear perfume to work at all and think it's disrespectful to wear strong perfumes in that environment.
I think you should ask nicely if she can go to the bathroom to spray it if she won't just do it at home. I don't think anyone would be offended by you asking.

We have a few girls that spray body spray on in their cubicles when they come back from cigarette breaks, I would love to let them know that they aren't masking anything, they are actually making themselves smell worse- drives me nuts.

I would think you need to go to the bathroom to spray perfume. If I wear perfume, I do it at home. It lasts the whole day for me.

As a migraine-sufferer, I know that people can get headaches/migraines from any little thing. I would hate to be responsible for triggering a migraine for someone. There was a woman who used to do it on the train in the morning and the conductor had to tell her to stop because so many people complained. It's just rude - you never know who is allergic or gets migraines or just doesn't like the smell! Do it at home!

I think people just assume that perfume is a pleasant smell and that everybody will be fine with it. So inconsiderate!

That would really annoy be but I think it would be awkward to so say something to her. I would most likely make coughing sounds when she sprays or pretend to sneeze or something. Surely if you do this every time she sprays she'll get the hint without you having to directly confront her.

I put perfume on before I leave in the morning, but I don't re-apply during the day usually. If I did, I would definitely go to the bathroom and spray it.

I love perfume and wear it every day but I don't think I have ever reapplied it at work. That's just rude.

Its not allowed at my work but if it were I'd go to the bathroom.
