At my 36w appointment I got my labor and delivery packet with all the standard hospital instructions. The one thing that stood out to me was the note that said no shaving or waxing down there after 36 weeks. I have no strong grooming feelings but I don't remember hearing this with LO1.
Just out of curiousity as I'm sitting around waiting for baby, were you given instructions regarding personal grooming?

I've never heard of this...my guess is they don't want you to increase risk of group B strep being present after they test for it, since they test that at 36 weeks.

Nope! Super odd. I actually shaved and "groomed" while I was in early labor because I was too wound up to sleep.

@Corduroy: those were my instructions for #2. Nothing was mentioned when I had #1.

Never noticed anything, and I think I read everything pretty carefully as an obsessive first time mom. I think I got a wax about a month before because we were going to the beach and I couldn't see anything to tidy it myself.

I totally shaved during my last shower the day of my indution! I think maybe they just don't want you to cut yourself, possible get in infection that way, etc?

Instructions? I didn't think any of this baby stuff came with instructions 
And nope, nothing was ever mentioned to me either time.

I had instructions but I was getting a c section. Makes sense though. They just want to be sure to minimize the risk of infection.

I have heard of this, "grooming" causes knicks, cuts, increases chance of infection.

Wasn't mentioned but I didn't read anything they ever gave me. Those are definitely not instructions I'd be listening to lol.

Nope - no instructions given. I cleaned up with an electric trimmer the day before my unsceduled induction because we were going to the pool.
