Which, to my knowledge, is the earliest outbreak in years in our area...great. I'm due jan 25 and my ob gyn practice still only gives pregnant ladies the shot post-delivery.

Will they write you a prescription/can you get it at a hospital or from another dr? I got a prescription for the TDaP from my OB in the third tri.

My OB was the same. She told me to get it at the nearest Walgreens ASAP which I did 2d pp. or I could wait until I got an appointment with my family doctor. I didn't want to wait on that. -
@dagret: Yikes. We moved up to Elizabethtown but my nieces are in Camp Hill...they're in the Camp Hill School District but you know how fast these things can spread...
I'm surprised your OB won't give you one now. It'll protect you but also your newborn. Mine didn't give it but recommended I get it, so I went through my GP.

My PCP will give it to me - I don't need an appointment; but when I asked my OB about it they recommended waiting till after birth. But then like a week later the CDC issued a ruling saying giving TDaP to pregnant women was OK. So i didn't know what to do. Sigh.

@dagret: I would get it. I think it used to be standard not to give the TDap to pregnant women, but that has been overturned in recent years. The benefit of getting it while pregnant is you can pass your antibodies on to the baby. It's not a live virus so you/baby won't get it now.

@dagret: I definitely suggest finding a pharmacy that will give it to you now. Your OB doesn't have to give it to you.

@boiledpnut: @jedeve: I'm taking a half day tomorrow. I will swing by my PCP office tomorrow (you can just pop in there for shots and bloodwork.)
