Anyone have the Phil and Teds double (basically a single with a second seat below)? Do you like it? Costco has it for $350 right now, which is much cheaper than the B-ready. Wondering the pros and cons and how they compare?

I have a friend who has it and LOVES it. I don't have one personally though.
She did complain that the handle wore down quickly and they ended up covering it with decorative duct tape, lol.

@Navy_Mommy: do you know how her LO likes being in the second seat? My DH is afraid that DD will think it is boring down there, she won't have a good view, won't be comfortable, etc.
For this reason he thinks a side-by-side is better, but they are definitely too cumbersome for my liking!

@Rainbow Sprinkles: he never cared enough to complain about it around me.

I have the Britax B-ready and the thing that surprised me the most about the second seat is how hard it is to get a kid in there! I have a three year old and 17 month old and it is equally hard to get both in there.... If I had to do it all over again I would get a City Jogger Select because it is the front/back idea but the lower seat is in the front, so both seats have a view. I don't like the side by side at all (we also have a double bob), because it doesn't fit in tight places ie the doors to get into the mall. A friend has the City Mini double and it is as wide as my double BOB.....
I don't know anything about the Phil and Teds though...

@MamaBehr: oh, interesting. I never thought about it being hard to get a kid in there! Makes sense, though, since it is so low to the ground and has limited space with the other seat.
I have looked into the City Select and test drove it, but it is just SOOOO expensive. I wonder if I could find it used....

@rainbow Sprinkles I have been looking a little for them used (I was hoping to be able to talk DH into one, but it just isn't going to work for us) and I have seen them on craigslist around us. They aren't that much cheaper than a new one, but that tells me they hold their value so you might be able to get a chunk of money back when you are done! I also like the fact that you can use a glider board with it.

We have the B-Ready (called the Strider Compact here in Australia) but I'm not sure it's exactly the same as we get the newest versions here for a test market before they are globally distributed. Our version just came out last October so it may not be in the US yet. However, if it is, I can highly recommend it. We've only used it with one child as our LO #2 isn't here yet, but we did try putting DD in both the top and bottom seats a number of times and had no difficulty whatsoever. The top seat comes off quite easily so if necessary, you can put whichever child in the bottom seat, click the top seat in place, and then put the second child in.
We also were told that most people put their younger babies on the bottom (it's not that low to the ground that it's a worry) and leave the older child on top. I'm not sure what we'll do yet but I can see that working for us. One of the main criticisms of Phil and Ted's is that there is not much room between the two seats; with our Strider Compact (B-Ready), there is tons of room and still leaves an awful lot of storage space. I also like that the B-Ready has so many different configurations, whereas with the P&T, I think you're pretty limited. And both seats on the B-Ready have three adjustable recline positions, meaning that both babies can sleep quite comfortably or sit up and look around.
Personally, I love my Strider Compact but they have made a number of changes from the Strider Plus (the previous model) so I guess it depends if the US version has made the adjustments as well. I've briefly looked online but can't really find an answer. We paid a lot for our Strider Compact ($700 not including the second seat) but it's worth its weight in gold, and I'm fairly sure they're cheaper in the US.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: Ive read a bunch of reviews that shared those same concerns but they were actually really surprised! Most of the kids prefered the second seat bc it felt like a hideout, more secret, cozy. Ive read a couple where thats not the case, but the majority prefered the lower seat. Some even said their kids fought over it!

@Ree723: I think the B ready and second seat together would be around $550- $600 here if we bought on sale.
Thanks for ur input!

Phil & Ted double strollers are REALLY popular here in NZ and by the most common double around. I have a couple of friends with the P&T and I've never heard them complain
