Hi girls! I'm a little stumped and would love to pick your brains. I need to make some photo books and do not know which company to use. I used to make books through Costco but do not like the stores new online book builder program. I want something that's classic and nice quality. What companies do you girls use?

I use shutterfly and love it! They have tons of design templates and its pretty simple to use. I've not tried any others though.

I do shutterfly for the basics and have been happy. But when i want something a little more high quality i go with blurb. We did our wedding albums through them and i am working on LO's baby book too.

I use MyPublisher! I've used Shutterfly and MyPublisher, and I find the quality of the books and pages is better with MyPublisher. It doesn't have some of the cool pre-made templates that shutterfly has though.

@marionberry: I haven't ever heard of MyPublisher but I will certainly check it out. I do not want templates with seashells or hearts or anything like that. I just want simple, plain, classy pages.

shutterfly is ok if you have high quality photos.

@Mrs. Bee: I am not sure if I have high quality photos. So should I not use shutterfly? I feel that this issue regarding quality of photos is why I am no longer using Costco.

@MrsMcD: i've used them several times in the past, and they cast a yellow/orangey color on my lesser quality images. but when i see professional photogs make shutterfly photobooks, they're stunning!
i've heard that mpix is great, but i've only used shutterfly a couple of times to make gifts.

I have been making books for the past few years (goal before baby is to be caught up!) and I am also doing an ongoing pregnancy one through Shutterfly. I have been VERY impressed with the quality of the books - they are nicer than I expected even with lo res photos like you would download from FB.
I think it depends on how much you want to spend. I will probably use Artifact Uprising for our wedding album (when I finally get there!) but don't need that for random pics from 2008.
Always wait for a Shutterfly coupon though!

Are you printing a wedding album? If so, you should really consider using http://www.mybridalpix.com . They offer pro quality albums direct to brides, but the templates could be used to print any kind of book. I used them to print my wedding album and it came out gorgeous! They have the really thick flush mount archival photo paper so the printing is beautiful. They also have plain white templates in their EZ build section of their software. I also ordered pure photo mount books off them for my parent albums and they were a little less expensive but great print quality as well. I wanted something other than a photo book too because I was afraid my little ones would tear the pages or bend them over time. Seems like there are a lot of companies out there that offer photo books but not too many that offer really nice albums. I was very happy with my purchase.

I very highly recommend Adoramapix. I am a graphic designer, so I am picky about print quality and theirs is amazing... also I LOVE lay flat pages, allows for more creative and full spreads!

I used Blurb for my wedding album - LOVED it. The software was amazing to use. The book was $$$ though (probably didn't help that it was a huuuuge book).
I used MyPublisher for my honeymoon album - it left a LOT to be desired. The pages were meh, but the cover was pretty bad.
I've used Shutterfly for quick books, and I like them a lot for that purpose. Simple program, and they have great deals. I just made a 20-page book with a 'free' coupon (you have to pay tax and shipping) and it came out to $8 and some change. The quality is decent (not the best, but not bad), even using pictures from FB.It's all about what you want to pay for!

I used blurb for my wedding album to and I gotta say, simply amazing quality. I was able to customize it how I wanted it vs being forced to use a template. It was super easy, a great price and outstanding quality. I plan on using them for the birth photobook we will be making.

If you are a mac user, I've made a few books with iPhoto and they were really beautiful and easy to do.

I love shutterfly, and so far the only ones I have made were free! I haven't tried any others but I love all of their products
