I was thinking about having our photographer come take snap shots at the party. This would also count as DDs 1 year pictures. Shes affordable and shes gives you a cd of your images with printing rights... I would take them myself but I worry that I'll get so caught up in the party I'll forget to take the pictures!
would you have/ have you had a photographer at the party?

I've been thinking about the same thing. We're not going to have a big party (just family over for an hour or so), so I don't think we'll have a photographer. But I'm getting professional pictures made for the cake smash session before the party.

@lovelife: i loved how my photographer took detailed shots. also, they took individual shots of the kids at the party which i never would have thought of and i included copies of those pics in the guests ty cards. they loved it!

I don't think we can afford it, but I plan on asking a friend or two to take some detailed shots. I know between running after my daughter and playing hostess for the party, my hands will be too full for pictures!

@lovelife: I think our most favorite pictures were candid shots of our friends and family members playing and holding him and cuddling with him. What I loved about his 1st birthday was that all of our loved ones were there all in one place and I figured we wouldn't have very many opportunities for an occasion where everyone will be there in one place. So I asked our photographer to make sure to take plenty of pics of guests holding him or playing with him, as opposed to only having a bunch of pictures of just my LO. With that said, the pics that I loved the most of my son was the cake smashing and him "opening" presents (which was really just my son ripping apart the gift wrap paper). I wanted to make sure I had time to enjoy my guests and the party and didn't want to be distracted by having to take photos. So I would definitely recommend getting a photography. It's totally worth it!!

yes we had one, but he was a friend who also happens to be a professional wedding photographer. so glad we captured it all... highly recommend it!!

I wish we had designated a photographer. For all family events, DH is the one who takes pictures. When we're the ones hosting and trying to take care of a 1 year old.. it just doesn't work out. If you don't have the budget for a photographer, I would recommend asking someone to take pictures throughout the day. It might not be professional, but at least you will have photos to document the party.

I doubt we can afford it, but I have a good friend with a nice camera and I plan on having her get some fun shots from different angles.

I think you will be too busy to take pictures! It doesn't have to be a pro but someone else should be photographer!
I plan to have our good friend who's a amateur photographer take photos. He took pics at the baby shower so it's apt.

We had one and don't regret it. If you can't hire one. I'd ask a friend or family member to do so.

We couldn't afford to hire one so my brother asked his friend who by no means is a professional but enjoys photography and wanted to build his portfolio so I paid for his meal and gave him $50 and it was fine!

We're not going to have one. I think that's a little too much for us. We won't her having a big party, just close friends and immediate family.

A couple days ago I would have just thought I could do it myself.... but LO's party was Sunday and while we did get some cute pictures, I do wish we had more. You just get so busy trying to look after your LO and making sure everyone is happy and well fed and trying to socialize. A photographer is a great idea!

I just had a gender reveal party and honestly, I wish I had hired a photographer for that! We were so busy we barely got any good candid photos.
