@matador84: I have no idea how to tell where anything is lol

I tried and tried but couldn't locate the placenta in my first ultrasound photo at all. Not sure what i was looking for anyway. Lol

@matador84: I've never heard of this, but the Ramsi Method was accurate for us!

Left on the picture or left on your body? Lol
I can't see a placenta in my early picture, it's very zoomed in. But from what I remember I think it was to MY left, and in the front.

@sorrycharlie: I think with a transvag left in the picture is left in your body...?
I just checked mine for fun, and it was to the left! My first ultrasound was a transvag. She looked like a tiny little chicken nugget.

@sorrycharlie: a transvagibal ultrasound is not mirrored, but an abdominal ultrasound is!
For the Ramsi method, I believe you need to have a transvagibal u/s done. I've never heard of the placenta thing, though!

Not accurate for me...not with S...her placenta was on the right.

How do I know if it is on the left or right? Can anyone tell from these pics?
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@photojane: it's ramZi. I don't know why my phone keeps autocorrecting! Ramsi isn't a word.
A friend told me about it when I was 8 weeks along with C. My transvagibal ultrasounds (weeks 7 and 8) showed the baby's head pointing to the left. She said dr. ramzi their prized that head location determines the sex. Both her early ultrasounds showed head pointing to the right, and she had two boys!
I googled the ramzi method & I'm reading mixed answers. Most websites say it's based on placenta location, but a few day it's head position.. I wonder which it actually is now!

@Mae: I'm not a medical professional, and I think it's hard to tell from your pics, but I would guess its on the left since baby is cuddled up over there. The placenta grows during the pregnancy, and it's not very big to start with, so I would think baby would be too far from it on the right...? Is that a transvag? If so, that may mean you could be having a little chica!

@photojane: It was transvaginal. That's what I was thinking too... the baby is definitely all the way to the left side of the uterus. I just wasn't sure if that meant the placenta was over there too. I can't even tell which end is head from ass, let alone where the placenta is here. I feel like a horrible mom already! lol

Ah, yes, the Ramzi method! Was totally true for us.
ETA: I heard this method is only good until eight weeks, though. Could be wrong.

@photojane: the top is 6 weeks and the bottom is 8 weeks 6 days, but not sure if that one is too far along to use. I'm 17 weeks now, anxious for my U/S!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: @photojane: oh! so what you see in the picture is as if you were looking head on at the person's belly? doh

@Bao: I am like, counting down to your ultrasound. I'm going to send the package with the 18m clothes that week they'll still fit her right?!

@sorrycharlie: I know I'm so excited, yes they will thank you

Here's my 8w4d with my son. I wonder if anyone could tell by this pic.

@photojane: and I have no idea why the date is so wrong on the 2nd pic lol

Okay, here's my TV u/s from week 9. No idea!! I thought the yolk sac was serving as the placenta in the beginning?? I'm. Clueless!
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
@Bao: were they both transvag? If so, my guess is boy! Do you have a preference (aside from a healthy baby, obviously :))?
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
@Vegmama: I think you are right...so then in my case it's on the left so that's another girl I think...
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
@TurtleDoves: Definitely looks like he's over on the right side, so that would be spot on!
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
@photojane: yes transvaginal on both...the little circle thing on the 2nd pic isn't that on the left? Oye it's so confusing! No preference
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
@Bao: I still think boy! Your sac is floating, so it's hard to tell, but from the little bit of reading I did, I think it looks like your placenta might be forming on the right. But, I mean... I really have no clue... haha!
I'm glad you're getting your next U/S so soon, because now I NEED TO KNOW!
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
@photojane: well we have a girl so a boy would be cool. Everyone thinks boy except DH and I....so we will see in 13 days
