During my 20 A/S the tech mentioned that I have Placenta Previa, but she said she couldn't tell if it was full or partial. I have to go back Wednesday for a follow up and hope the baby is being cooporative enough to finish the measurements and take a better look at my placenta. My midwife said they'll probably do a vaginal ultrasound. Which concerns me as I'm on pelvic rest and thought having anything "in there" was bad? Does anyone else have any experience with this? I'm nervous!

I was diagnosed at 20 weeks w/ a low-lying placenta. It's not covering my cervix, so technically it's not previa, but still it's very low. They had me come back for a follow-up ultrasound at 28 weeks to see if the placenta moved up. For most women the previa will resolve itself over time b/c the placenta tends to move upwards as the uterus continues to stretch out. Unfortunately mine didn't move, so I have one more ultrasound at 32 weeks to give me a final diagnosis. All of my ultrasounds up until now have been abdominal, but the next one will be vaginal b/c they can make a better measurement that way.

When I was 19weeks my placenta was low lying as well. By 22 weeks when I went back for another ultrasound the placenta had moved upwards to the right location .

I had a low lying placenta too. It resolved by the time I delivered. My friend had the same thing and it also resolved. The OB said most of the time the placenta will move upwards before delivery so don't worry, hopefully yours will move too!

Okay sweet! Thanks for the positive thoughts. I have a blood clotting disorder that would make a c-section stressful for me...so I'd like to think there's still a chance I can have a vaginal birth. I'm tempted to stand on my head to get the sucker moving in the right place
