Near Waco this evening a plant exploded injuring hundreds! There's no fatality count at this time but with a blast that was heard over 40 miles away I'm sure it's not looking good!
Please keep these Texas families in your thoughts & prayers!

Glad to know you aren't near it! I remember reading a few bees live in/near Waco. My sister, in Austin, didn't feel anything but that's a little over 100 miles away. I guess people in Dallas felt it too which is 100 miles away.

@HLK208: Thanks for thinking of me! There are alot of plants like this down here! We have DuPont & Formosa near by! It's scary to think about one of them having an accident like this! We used to do drills at the hospital to prepare! I'm scared to see what the fatality rate is in this. :,(

I just read about this! It is all over my Facebook feed and it doesn't look good at all. My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected. It is so scary when you realize how much of an impact a plant explosion can have when you have grown up around plants.

@illumina: Our local news (we're about 4 hours away) is reporting that the area is being considered a crime scene until they figure out what happened.
I stayed up praying & watching the news most of the night. It looks so awful & it's so heartbreaking to hear from people who have lost their pets, homes & aren't certain if their loved ones are ok.

I was so sad when I heard the news on NPR this morning. Like everyone else in Texas, my favorite place to stop driving from Dallas to Austin was Czech Stop in West. Even if I'd *just* eaten, I would insist my husband stop there. There are no better kolaches in the world and I feel really sad about the explosion!
It's such a tiny town....I know this is going to affect everyone.

Very sad, indeed. We just drove through West on our way to Dallas a couple weeks ago.
Looks like the latest news is 5-15 dead, over 180 injured with major property damage in the area. I think we are going to go donate some baby clothes today, they are setting up donation points in our town.

I have no words. This is such a sad and tragic week.
West was always a place to stop to get those awesome kolaches and is a cute little town. Definitely going to continue to pray for the families, ems and firefighters today. It is going to be really windy today, so I hope it doesn't turn into a giant wildfire.

I'm so "glad" to here the expected fatality count is so much less! This is still so devastating though.... I haven't brought myself to watch the video. =/

@runsyellowlites: yeah the video is really hard to watch. My heart was wrenched when the explosion happened. I was praying this morning and I just couldn't help crying because of all that happened this week.

How old was she? I couldn't tell from the video but I was so heart broken hearing her scream and think that she lost her hearing.
