Do you have a friend that may be able to give you a hand? I'm a decent decorator, but hired an interior designer to buy small furniture and accessories.

you don't have to be creative!! just copy someone elses ideas that you like - that's what pinterest is for!!

I searched "navy blue master bedroom" on pinterest and there are some beautiful ones!! find one you like and steal a few ideas... mirrors, wall collage, headboard color, etc. Just piece together other people's ideas with what you have/can buy and you don't have to be creative on your own

@coopsmama: ummm, I'm your twin. 17 month old son without a decorated room. Boring master bedroom without a bed frame or headboard, etc.

We actually hired a decorator for a couple hours when we moved into our house. It wasn't cheap, (like $85 an hour) but it really helped. I had her help me with paint colors (every room, ceiling, trim, door and grout was pink - I was overwhelmed trying to pick colors for a whole house) and furniture placement. I never would have picked the colors she did but I really like all of them. She also gave me some tips about where the furniture would look good and I never would have tried it that way. I'm just saying that it never hurts to call some in your area and get prices.
You might also look up home stagers - they are great at decorating and they might be cheaper. When we sold our house, our realtor included a home stager in the deal and she had great paint and lighting contacts.

I'm the worst. We hired a decorator for our last apartment and it was so, so worth it. We would have wasted way more time and $$ trying to do it ourselves.

Same with me! I'm not original so I just Pinterest everything to death and pick easy things to do. The good thing is my taste is pretty simple. I also have zero creativity and craft skills so I do not DIY anything!

You're not the only one! We are commitment phobes over here and scared to make decisions on pictures, rugs, etc. we always play it safe and then I'm still not satisfied and it looks boring. Do you have a Pottery Barn near you? They will come and do a free one hour consultation and help you design/decorate a room! Might be worth looking into......

ETA: not saying you should decorate it like Pottery Barn but just use the consultation as a tool to get other ideas and then find your own stuff (for cheaper! )

@JennyG: yes! Same! We are so frugal when it comes to buying furniture and stuff like that....can't fathom spending $$$$ on art and then hating it after a week....hence the bare walls lol.

Not the only one... the only room in my house with pictures on the wall is my kid's room.

Nope, not the only one! We literally have ONE painting hung on our walls, IN THE ENTIRE HOUSE!!! I'm a terrible decorator, and since we're military and move frequently, I just don't feel like taking the time.

You're not the only one!
My twin got most of the creative genes, and ALL of the ones for fashion, coordinating, and generally effortless crafting/dressing.

My husband is the one that bought bright orange paint to put in a room that had maroon carpet. I thought he was nuts- we had a bedding set that was silky maroon shot through with gold, what was he thinking?

"Have trust" he tells me.

Darned if that odd orange didn't snatch that gold thread right up out of that bedspread and make it the star of the room.
(I hated that bed set though!)

Same thing happened with the other room, which is now a bright yellow. For the same reason too, we moved rooms. Now, it still looks happy and bright, and contrasts wonderfully with our black "Cosmos" quilt with bright blocks of red, blue, green, and purple.

Mr. Frog picks most of my clothes too. He can browse an entire department store and not only find the very few cute items in a sea of ugly, but also usually clearanced and in my size.
