Even though I love my MIL to death, she drives me crazy with the "daddy" clothes. "I love daddy", "daddy's princess", etc. stuff. It's seriously ALL.she.buys.her. For Christmas, she bought her at least 4-5 outfits that said something daddy related. I want to say to her "you know she has TWO parents right???" ;p I know it's a minor thing, but it's gets under my skin!

Ouch. I'm not a fan of any of that stuff anyway "Mommy is my BFF" "Mommies Rockstar" "Daddy's Princess" Aunties favorite" bleg. I would send her to your MIL's house in a shirt that says "Grandma JennyLynn's girl" or "Grandma JennyLynn loves me" etc and none with her name on them haha, maybe she will get the hint? Or maybe i'm just mean...

and yeah never cared for those slogans anyhow... we might get 1-2 when we have a girl but I have never bought anything. We probably have equal mommy/daddy stuff for our boy: "bananas for mommy", "handsome like daddy", "mommy's little dude" stuff like that... it's meh because they're usually onesies and I cover them up with dress shirts, sweaters or tees!

Hahah, those shirts bothered me too but now I don't care! My MIL loves that stuff....LO mostly wears them to daycare and gets them grubby.

That's the kinda stuff I send to daycare. Mine of course is boy related, so "Daddy's Big Guy", etc.

Ahh...so annoying! Though I have to say that I feel like you can't find many clothes that say "I love Mommy" for girls or "I love Daddy" for boys. It seems as if there's a ton of stuff out there for Mommies when it comes to boys and Daddies when it comes to girls. I always try to find one of each if I'm looking to buy a gift for a friend and I always find it hard to find one for each parent when it's gender specific!

@MrsTiz: I make it a point to send her over there in the ONE "mommy's cupcake" shirt she has at least once a week, and I hardly ever put her in any of the daddy stuff. I even put a few of the outfits away in storage. I'm horrible...

Blah. Hate those shirts. I hate them all, whether daddy- mommy- or grandparent-related. A Carter's just opened here and I went in there and it was slogan hell.
Full disclosure: We have a shirt that says "Boy Genius." That's about all I'll tolerate.

I hate any of that, it's so hard to find stuff around here without it! Even sleepers have something on them, just stick to the stripes and polka dots, you don't have to post it on everything <end rant>

The only shirt like that I've seen and like says: I'm cute. Mom's cute. Dad's lucky.

I hate the writing all over the outfits. I got some as gifts and when I showed them to DH he even said so day care outfit. huh. That or when we don't leave the house. I would return them but I don't know where they came from. And one I know my SIL would be upset if I don't put her in.

Do we have the same MIL? She does the same thing! I have at least 7 of these things in various sizes. I know she loves her son, but the baby doesn't have to be her billboard for it! I bought a couple "mommy" onesies just to balance it out, but the "daddy" ones keep coming!

@2PeasinaPod: really? I don't think so! My son has equal mommy/dadd apparel! His daddy stuff is "handsome like daddy", "daddy's rockstar", "daddy's new guy"... very "buddy" type stuff haha. And then he received the I love mommy, bananas over mommy, mommys little man etc..

@Smurfette: I'd love to return them but she's SUPER sensitive. One of her Christmas gifts this year was a onesie that read "who needs Santa when you've got Grandma" in the size she was currently wearing. I mentioned taking it back to DH since I wasn't going to put her in it after Christmas, and he was super offended by it and said she'd rather her wear it once than us exchange it...
So away to storage it went. She just bought her a sleeper in size 6-9 months (she's in size 12 months now) that I plan to smuggle out of the house to exchange....@katiew92081: My feelings exactly!!!

I don't put my girl in stuff with writing on it, in general. I find it tacky. Handmedown stuff like that I use as messy clothing. Problem solved!

I got a Valentine's Day onesie for my LO that says "Eligible Bachelor," so now Mommy or Daddy stuff here.

I have one or two outfits that are mommy/son related (mommy's secret admirer etc). Thankfully they're pj's so he doesn't wear em much.
The only one I've actually liked is "boob man" because I have an inappropriate sense of humour and find it hilarious. -
I actually think the daddy's girl things are cute, it makes DH happy.
But I know what you mean because my MIL did something similar on Xmas and I was wondering whether I should read into it or not, lol.

I made rules for both sets of our parents when we found out our daughter was a she. 1. No pink. 2. No words. 3. No princesses. It's worked out fabulously.
And as a bit of background, I'm not totally ungrateful: My mom shops all.the.time, and mostly at hallmark, so these ground rules were essential to our relationship.

@Mrs. Jacks: Oh, yeah, we bent the pink rule...but I wanted it to be on our terms and I wanted my mom to understand which pinks I liked (dusty, not neon), before sending her out into the great unknown of baby clothing. Luckily, she's been doing a fabulous job...with a few exceptions.

One of our friends took the pink rule so literally that he got us a black onesie that says, "I don't do pink." Of course, I didn't have the heart to tell him that the onesie broke rule #2 and we happily wore it. We have NEVER, however, broken rule #3! -
