@Ree723: interesting thanks!! That's the type of fence that is around our new pool although access from a garage door to the pool will need to be very child proofed.

I would love to have a pool, but we live in Boston so that would require us to be gazilionaires and therefore the upkeep wouldn't matter cause we would hire people.
It snows here too much to make it a priority in our house search if we moved to the suburbs. What I really want is a good friend with a pool

If we stayed living where we are now, a pool would be a must have with temperatures at >90 for 5-6 months of the year.

I'd only do salt water or ion, never a chlorine. I live downtown in a townhouse with no yard on a busy street... if I can manage that I imagine I could manage safety around a pool. I would swim day and all night. TBH I prefer natural water (lakes, rivers, ocean, etc.)

tough call. Having a pool would be awesome and I'd be in it all the time! But deep down we are lazy people and I'd be scared of the amount of upkeep.
