I'm not really sure what to call it. I'm looking for something like this Melissa and Doug board for my daughter for car rides. Any ideas (other than the one pictured?)

I was going to suggest the same as @autumnlove:! Sadie loves her magnadoodle, and it's mess free. We have a little $5 Disney princess one from Target, but they have bigger ones too.

@looch: dry erase is probably something she would really enjoy. She likes writing with pens and paper...at the tender age of not yet 3...
@T-Mom: I don't want to explore the world of electronics for her yet!!
@autumnlove: @photojane: we have one of those but she just isn't interested. I think she needs something where she can write/scribble with a real pen/pencil/crayon/marker. -
@mediagirl: if you are a DIYer you can get a cookie sheet pan (we have them at the $ store) and a piece of dry erase paper (link below)
it would also be magnetic so it could have double use. And the lip on the cookie sheet will help pens from being dropped
