So LO is now 15 months old. I went back to work as a teacher when LO was 2 months old. That school year was so hard for me, I felt like it wasn't fair that I was with my students giving them time and not my son. This year I feel like my old self again. I am motivated and love teaching again. I don't know why it took me so long to realize that I was in some sort of postpartum fog! I don't know if that is just typical first time mom emotions or what, but I am glad to to back to my old self.

That's great to hear! I've had a lot of friends say it took a year. My chiropractor's wife said it took three years! I have days where I feel like myself and days where I just go through the motions

I am so glad you wrote about this. I can completely relate to the pp fog and know that I experienced a very thick one. LO is now 10.5 months old and while many of my days are clear, I still have some very cloudy ones. I really thought I was the only one for a while and felt like I was completely disconnected from my old self.
I felt like I was just going through the motions of everyday and could "snap in to" my new life. It has been extremely difficult to explain to others and I just felt like such a blob.
I'm so glad you're feeling more like yourself now! It just takes time...

Yes....the first maybe 6m were a whirl. I literally don't know how mothers can go back to work after 6w; it is an amazing feat! I was no where near sanity that soon after labor.

Yes. It just maybe started lifting this week at 4.5 months pp, maybe from getting some exercise finally?

It took me a full year to feel normal again. I definitely agree with it being a "fog".

@doodlesmama: Thank you so much for posting this! I just went back to teaching after 8 months of maternity leave. I feel the way you felt, like why am I spending time with other people's kids instead of my own? I'm glad your fog lifted. You've given me hope that mine will one day soon and that I'll feel like myself again.

I can totally relate to this. I think it took me until maybe 7 or 8 months pp to feel normal again.

Yeah, it took me a long time to feel normal again. I felt like I was short changing my consultants and their needs during those really tough months of pumping, work, and marriage counseling. I started to feel more normal with LO's sleep training and going on WW.
