It was a given that my mom would come and help. I didn't have to ask.. Just asked how long she wanted to stay for.

My mom is a SAHM and lives about 3 hours away from us. I'm guessing she'll be wanting to stay with us for about a month. I think it'll be great to have help, but am a lil worried if she'll be overbearing or not with me and the baby.

my mom offered to come help me for a week after my husband had to go back to work(2 weeks pp). she would just come and sit with me through the day, and help out when needed. i had a c-section so it was nice having the help since i didn't want to overdo it. i'm hoping for the same this time, especially since #1 will be 15 months old, but i'm not sure if it'll happen.

My mom made herself available to me and let me decide when and how long I wanted her to come for. But she does work full time so it's not like she could come for weeks. She ended up coming for four days when we got home from the hospital which was perfect.

My mom was only able to take off a few days of work, and that was just while I was in the hospital. My IL's aren't the type to offer. We'd have to specifically ask for whatever we wanted.

My mom volunteered to come every day for a month with DD. It was really helpful. And exactly on the day one month passed, she stopped coming, haha,. For DS, she said she would do the same, but DH decided to stay home for an entire month, so she didn't come over at all. I was a little surprised since I could have still used her help with 2 kids, but she didn't offer. My family is so practical it kills me sometimes!
@autumnlove: I hope you are able to get some help!

My sister made herself available and ended up staying at my parents house for the week after LO was born but came here to be with me everyday after DH left for work. That first week was scary, and having her here during the day made all the difference in the world especially since DH couldn't get off work.

My mom took my older girls weh I was in the hospital (she did the same when I had my second as well). Beyond that it was just DH and I. DH actually took 2 weeks off this time, last time he went back to work 2 days after we got home form the hospital so it was nice to have him around.
I know my mom would come if I called and needed help, she only lives 20 mintues away. Luckily things have gone so well I really haven't felt like I needed much help.

My mom only lives about 30 minutes from me so she'll be able to come over whenever and help, but not have to stay at our house, which I am SO grateful for. I think it would be just a little too much!
My MIL lives only 5 mins away and I know she'll do anything at all for us if we need it.
I don't think I'll have to ask either of them for help. They're both just really great.

My mom has always said that she would move in with us for two weeks to help (she lives 4-5 hours away). Since we are refusing overnight guests (DH will be off work), she and my dad will stay in a hotel and come help/visit a little during the day, but I'm hoping that it isn't a 12-hour/day visit.
