Trying to figure out if I need the newborn size at all. A friend said she started with Size 1 and still uses it. Her babe was 6.9 Lbs when he was born.

I have Size 1s! My babies were both around 8lbs at birth.

We used the newborn size (green mt diapers). They fit for 2 months. She was 7lb 2oz at birth. She is still in the small size at 5 months. They smalls would have fit, but been very bulky. We liked having the newborn size, but if cost is an issue you can skip them.

We used newborns at first b/c the next size up swallowed P! She was 6lb 1oz at birth (5 14 at discharge) and wore them for quite some time... when she outgrew them we use them as doublers, sometimes tri folded as extra absorbancy with a reg sized prefold or to double stuff our pockets. SO even if they stop fitting by themselves quick, you can still get alot of use out of them.... Now I use a few as dust rags.

@citymouse: They still work right now and she is around 16 or 17 lbs!

@Silva: Not a cost issue, just trying to really be lean about it. Trying to wring the savings out of going this route! I guess I could sell them if we end up having a big baby and the size 1 is a better fit? Would you use them as doublers now?

@citymouse: i could, at night, I suppose. I let a friend borrow them though. We use hemp doublers at night.
