Check with your specific pool about the diapers- I think mine said it required disposable. It also said they had to wear a rubber or vinyl diaper cover over it but no one did.

We opted to just take a bath that night and not rinse her off there, but she hated showers at the time, and was usually pretty overwhelmed by that point. Plus our lessons went right up against nap time. She was a little over two when we started. She can have dry skin but no exzema so that might make a difference.

Be prepared for everything to take so much longer than you think it should, getting dressed for the lessons and after. And my LO cried through the first 3 out of 6 lessons but we powered through because it was really important to us that she get comfortable in the water. By the last couple she was happy. I think starting younger may have been better though.

Just wanted to add that our pool, too, requires disposables. And also that everything takes longer than anticipated - there are limited changing tables in the locker rooms, so before each littlie swim class, there's always a back-up. (Although DH says the one in the boy's locker room is usually free!)

I Play diapers run very small in my experience so I would size up if you buy one. Our class required two diapers!! To prevent poop leaks. I guess so we used huggies little swimmers which is disposable with a diaper cover (rumparooz) over it. my guy has never pooped while swimming thankfully.

I'm not sure about ear tubes but we only actually go all the way underwater after a few lessons so it might not be a concern at least right away.

Also our class had a helper who would watch your kid while you got changed. It was helpful to come dressed in my swimsuit.

DS is 8.5 months and half way through his swim lessons. I use Pampers disposable, 1 pack will last us well beyond the 6 week class and they are easy to tear off. Our teacher had us dunk the kids underwater from the first class so I would confirm with your doc about ear tubes before. I rinse him off in the shower with his body wash after the pool. I would recommend planning ahead with clothes that are easy to take on/off as it is hard to change them in the locker room. I usually have to lay DS down on a bench.

We also have always used Applecheeks, and really like them (although my son had never pooped in them so I can't speak to how well they contain mess). We rinse him off in the shower after but don't try to do soap or anything, but it's enough of a struggle getting him dressed without prolonging it. If you can go with both parents that's obviously easier - the parent who doesn't go in the pool can change the toddler.

We are required to use reusable diapers!

I agree on the iplays running small but I love them and we never had any issues with poop in the diapers when in the water.
