What did you do for favors, if you did some?
What are some favors your kids have gotten/you've seen?
We just went to a third birthday that was farm themed. Baby animals there and whatnot. The kids got a bandana and adopted a beanie baby. And a cute sugar cookie!

For a bug/hungry catipilar birthday they gave out bug catchers.

Chalk, balloons, a bouncy ball, and a juice box was at a recent 3 year old's party.

We just had lo's 4th birthday today and gave out small sand pails/buckets (came with attached sand shovel), box of Sophia the 1st crayons, bubbles, 2 plastic bracelets, 1 plastic necklace and a bag of goldfish. (We swapped the jewelry for super hero erasers for the boys). Got everything at PartyCity - cheap!!

We did a zoo birthday and the zoo provided paper animal print bags with a tiny parachute animL, ticket for future admission, we also included animal crackers and a foam animal mask. 4th birthday.
We had sugar cookies and cupcakes for dessert

We did a pinata filled with candy and toys (mini play doh, tattoos, stickers from Target). It was an activity AND a favor!

For F's 3rd birthday we had a "cars & trucks" theme and we gave each kid a jeep truck from the dollar store with a balloon attached, lollipop, 1 starburst, small stickers, & tattoo. We've been to a few parties recently with no favors and I liked not toting a bunch of junk home.

I hate all the little crap she gets, which is too much. Yesterday she got a Pez dispenser which isn't a lot but just enough.

This was the first year I gave favors, and I wanted to give something that both kids and parents would appreciate. I gave each kid a Little Golden Book (either Cars or Toy Story - there were a LOT of siblings) and a mini metal character box (like a tin lunch box) from Party City. I planned this favor, but got lucky and found everything on sale.

I love when people give small favors that are edible or disposable (special themed cookie, bubbles, stickers, etc). My daughter thinks everything her friends give her is a special treasure and her junk basket is filling up quickly. For her pumpkin patch birthday last year, I did a homemade pumpkin sugar cookie and the kids painted mini jack o lanterns to take home.

DD (3.5) went to a party today and came back with a plastic bag containing a notepad, crayons, funny plastic glasses, three pieces of candy, a slice of cake and a plastic recorder. All the stuff that as parents we hate, but bless her, she was delighted with it and has carried it around all day. It was was a generic party bag given out by the soft play place.

No bday parties yet but it will be interesting to see if parents make the effort to give out gender neutral favors. Reading Parenting Beyond Pink and Blue right now if you can't tell.
