I've noticed a few times over the past week, items that I thought about buying on Zulily were actually priced higher than what I could find in the stores. I always price check before I buy something just to make sure I'm getting a good deal. An example of this is today they have Crayola products on their site. They have a bucket of outdoor art supplies that they claim retails for $27 and they are selling it for $19.99. I found the exact same set on Toys R Us' website saying it retailed for $19.99 and they were selling it for $12.98. Granted, the Toys R Us set is currently out of stock, but they were selling it at that price recently. And how could the starting cost be so different? I think Zulily is inflating their suggested retail pricing, so their discounts seem greater. Has anyone else noticed the pricing seems to not be that great on some items?

I've definitely noticed this before, and also always price check. Usually even if the item is cheaper shipping raises cost so it doesn't make sense to purchase on Zulily.

I don't think this is a Zulily issue. Sometimes the prices on Amazon are higher than what I would find in the store. Of course, there is usually no way to check in store prices without actually physically being in the store.
I have noticed that Zulily prices aren't that good. But sometimes they are better. I don't check Zulily quite as often anymore.

@aprild: They are a Seattle based company and maybe they are looking at Amazon's prices and not checking other sites.
I heard they have good customer service (someone wanted to return something and they refunded the money and told them to donate the item because it wasn't worth it to send back to them). So I would suggest emailing them and telling them about the inflated prices. Maybe they'll fix it.

I personally dont like Zulily for this reason. Also, shipping is expensive and takes forever! So if I can order from another site or get in store for even $2 more its not worth the savings.

@aprild: Woot is like this too - they will have a retail price that is ridiculous and tell you its 70% off - only to find it on amazon for the same price
always price other stores! -
I always price check first.
And I only buy when they offer free shipping with Visa Checkout.

the only time i've found true deals on zulilly is known brands selling past season stuff. I only buy Hanna Andersson or Nui Organics from there these days. Sometimes kickee pants.

Everything I try to buy I google search it to see if it is cheaper somewhere else. 9/10 times I can get it on Amazon cheaper. I think they are inflating prices. I rarely buy from them. The only times I really have is when they do their TOMs sale, because I'll buy multiple pairs and those are really discounted.
I think their shipping policy is bs. Most places you see like that have a $10 rate, but it's good for the whole month, not 24 hours. That is the main reason I don't shop there anymore.

We just bought an 8x10 area rug, it was $225 on Zulilly, and $130 on Wayfair. Since they are both flash sale type sites, and the rug was on sale, I thought it was kinda a crazy price difference.... which made me rethink Zulilly.

Yeah, I've really lost all appreciation for Zulily. I've considered getting several things from there over the last few months & even if their prices are ok, the shipping is so expensive it is no longer a deal if I'm just looking at something small, not to mention I know it'll take a while to get it.
