I had the exact same thought. If you don't use your real name, email, link to your blog, or tell people you post on HB regularly... Not sure how someone would find you! Even if you post pics of yourself, I'd think someone would have to be a HB regular already to find you.

Google image search for the pics - haven't you seen catfish? You can put an image file into google and it'll return results of everywhere on the web that pic is posted.

I switched my username to one that no one but HB knows. It just happens to be the same as someone else, so that helps a bit. I gave my Instagram username recently which is my typical username. I'm actually thinking of changing that, so I have more privacy.

I know at my work the IT Dept can see your login/username. I don't feel I ever post anything I wouldn't own up to, so I don't care about that.
But I know there was one co-worker who had a blog that was found out and she was trashing the HR manager. Everything was anonymous, a random screen name, no names given in the blog, etc. and she was still let go for it.

@JoJoGirl: Good point, I had not thought of that.

I was thinking more like, if someone I know is on here, even if I don't post pictures they could put together the snippets of info that I post (city I live in, neighborhood, due date, etc) and if they knew me, could potentially piece it together who I am. But then, they would have to be on here a lot to know that. I'm Ok with the level of privacy, but I also wouldn't post a picture of myself.

Of course I think a friend or co worker would be able to identify me right away, maybe you would have to give them a couple choices. But, in all honesty I am sure no one knows me that well to pick up on my posts except for DH.

I am not going to post pics of my future baby out of respect for their privacy-no pic on FB for that matter.

I once thought about using one of my invites for a friend, but I really did not want a person IRL to be able to give me advice on things I wasn't specifically requesting from them.

@rachiecakes: oh I would NEVER log in to hellobee (or any other website that i have a login for) from my work computer. I'm super paranoid about IT tracking activity! All iPhone for me.

@Mrs. Cowgirl: something I've wondered about - when you search things on google, often forum questions from baby center and other places come up a lot, but I think only once or twice has hellobee popped up... Is that by design of HB or the site is too small to come up at top of results?

@rachiecakes: yea we aren't allowed to use company wifi for personal phones but I would be paranoid about that if we could too

So this happened to me... I use a pretty anonymous name and a picture from high school that like no one has seen and someone who has never even met me, found me. Her name is Val and she is my husbands, brothers girlfriends, best friend. It's all really psyho. But she supposedly found my profile here (and I've told no one about this site) and sent a link to some of my posts to all of my inlaws.

So it could happen. And I know my inlaws and their friends are psychos so that doesn't help but it can happen. I really don't care what they saw or if they still see me calling them a crazy bunch of no life idiots, but I've kind of stopped posting like POAS results or pregnancy timeline things. They will be the last people on the planet to know when I'm pregnant.

So ya, it happens

I've expressed concerns about privacy and photos before - I would be upset if one of my 'bump' photos was used in a pro-life ad after someone google searched since I'm pro-choice. I would be even more upset if my son's picture was used for well, anything. The likelihood of that happening is far greater (even if it is small) if I post here than on Facebook. There are lots of examples of this happening, some are funny (someone's Xmas card was used in an Asian grocery store window I think..) and some are awful (a gay couple's engagement photo was used in a homophobic political flier). So, I would be more likely to post baby photos under Gold since they're not search-able.

@Cherrybee: oh I'll make sure you guys all know! Ya it sucks but that's how they are. Like literally nothing better to do than to search for me online or something. Thank you for always cheering me on lol. You guys are so amazing!

I always worry about this because I've figured out who several people are (without trying! I'm not creepy! lol) on WeddingBee. One of them actually goes to my gym!
