My LO's name is Japanese(but with a really Americanized nickname) and people are definitely having a hard time pronouncing it. I feel awkward correcting friends/family over and over again. Anyone in this boat?

I would keep correcting your friends and family. If you don't, they'll continue to mispronounce your LO's name!
My LO's name is easy to pronounce so we haven't had any problems.

My husband's relatives will frequently call me "Megan". My name is Meg, but it is short for Margaret. I never know how to correct people after the first time it happens- and we always get cards to "Ross and Megan". Ugh.

@MegWag: oh, that's annoying. If I were you, I'd have your DH call you Margaret from now on when you're with his family. HAHA.

I think you would have to correct them! Otherwise, like @chopsuey119 said, they will just continue the practice.

@chopsuey119: It is annoying, but thankfully we don't see them that often. If we spent more time with them, I'd probably push the issue more.
It's happened most of my life. Everyone just assumes that Meg is short for Megan.

My name can be pronounced a couple of different ways, so I know what that's like. I think it's less awkward to not correct them because eventually they'll hear someone else say it the right way and feel bad for getting it wrong.

I always correct people with my name, I don't have a huge pet peeve about it, but as a courtesy I remind them of the pronunciation at least once. I would for my LO if people had a hard time with it.

@MegWag: Yep. I woulda guessed your name was Megan too. One day my husband and I were over at his neighbor's house and she wanted to pray for us (this was shortly after we got married). She thought my name was Christina. LOL. My name's Susan. I didn't correct her though. lol.

My mom thinks I should include a phonetic pronunciation guide with our birth announcements! Lol

@chopsuey119: That's way awkward since it's not even close! I probably wouldn't have corrected either- mostly out of shock
Megan is much more common than Margaret, so I understand why people would assume that's it's Megan. Lots of people don't even realize that Meg can be short for Margaret.

People always try calling my daughter Candice, her name is Caidence. I correct sometimes, sometimes I just din't feel like it lol.

my name is grace and sometimes people think i said kris, so i'd correct them.
if they mispronounced my LOs names, i'd correct them for the most parts. if it's just random people i meet and i know i won't really interact with them, i won't really care to correct them. lol.

My name is mispronounced A LOT (like, a lot a lot!) and I usually correct people. Sometimes I am just too tired, or just don’t care and won’t correct them. Be warned though that no matter how many times you correct someone, some people will NEVER get your child’s name pronounced correctly…it’s like they can’t hear the difference in what they are saying and what you are saying. That’s the only explanation I can come up with.

Family and close friends - I'd correct them or else how are they ever going to figure it out and get it right.
Random people - I wouldn't worry about it.

I've always correct my name when it's mispronounced so I'm sure I would correct for my lo too.
There's only 1 person I don't correct anymore and that's only b/c she made clear that she knows my name but still says it wrong basically b/c she wants to. After awhile I just started to nod & smile when I saw her. lol

My sister and I have Japanese names and my parents had to correct people all the time. I would definitely correct people who mispronounced my baby's name.

My friends LO is named Amia. Pronounced AHH-me-ah, not ah-MEE-ah. Every time I read it I pronounce it wrong in my head. they also call her Ami, like AHH-mee, not AYE-mee.
