Just getting an idea on how much everyone pays for property taxes when they own a home.

We were getting some rough numbers from the MIL (if we buy her house) and it's roughly the same. $700 for her mortgage and $600 a month for her property tax. (I know our loan terms will be different.) That's $7,200 a year in just property taxes!

I know it's all depends on your location but I'm just curious.

Guess I had no idea that property taxes were that high. I knew it was high but relative to a mortgage, it's a pretty big chunk.

I know there's the ability to pay that off earlier in the year so you don't have to pay for it monthly.

Oh, if you don't want to state how much you pay, you could tell us what percentage your property taxes is compared to your mortgage. So for the MIL, it's 85%.
