DS is 20 months old. He had 6 ear infections last year between Thanksgiving and April. This year he has had 2 already, after a break over the summer without any infections. Each ear infection causes DS to miss days of daycare, us to miss work, and DS to have a fever, sleep poorly, be medicated for the fever and possibly with antibiotics, etc...
He had a follow up with the ENT surgeon today, and he says no to tubes. DS does not have scar tissue and it doesn't seem that he has long term hearing loss, but does have short term hearing loss during the infections.
At what point did you end up getting tubes? What were the indicators that led you and your ENT dr/surgeon to proceed with the tubes?
I'm frustrated because I don't want DS to keep getting ear infections and I thought the tubes were to prevent recurring ear infections.
Do I wait for the next one or get a second opinion?
